    Default Norovirus from college event?

    Hi,
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Mutanatia. I live on Long Island, and I'm currently struggling with something I saw reported on the news about Norovirus. I went to an event at a college in which the governor of my state was speaking. I am suddenly very concerned that I got norovirus from this event. I have no evidence to suggest this, no reports in the media about norovirus since then, etc. etc. etc. It has been 2 weeks. My fear is that somehow the norovirus got from my clothes that I wore to the event, to the clothes that I changed into as I put these clothes in the hamper, to the comforter on my bed, to my clothes, onto my socks, from my socks to my pillow, from the pillow back to my clothes, to my hands, to everything in the household over the course of 2 weeks. Is there any realistic chance of this happening?

    From Wikipedia:
"The norovirus can survive for long periods outside a human host depending on the surface and temperature conditions: 12 hours on hard surfaces, and up to 12 days on contaminated fabric and it can survive for months, maybe even years in contaminated still water. A study done in 2006 found the virus on several surfaces used for food preparation 7 days after contamination."

So you should be good now, just wash your hands frequently, and you should be fine!

Dude, you are awesome! THANK YOU I thought it was two weeks.

I do have a larger question though: Not from the standpoint of puking (Which I have an insane fear of), but when you actually get infected and are going through the symptoms (trying to put this in the nicest way possible), is it really that bad? I mean, are the symptoms that constant? Further, is the media's big fuss about it anything new?

And it is common? I know it is the common CAUSE of illness, but how common is it?

In my emet brain, yes it's that bad. In reality? No. In January 2007 I v* 1AM, 3AM, and 7AM. Then had d* every few hours or so, not severe though.
