Angry Why, just why do people do it?

I logged onto Facebook to send my best friend (who lives over 100 miles away..) a message since it's the only way we can communicate with each other. And the first thing I saw on the News feed was a picture of a friend lying on the floor with a bucket next to them and you can guess what was in it........... I wasn't panicked that much since the caption said, 'this is what happens after a night out', so obviously been on alcohol.. Anyway, just WHY would ANYONE upload something like that to Facebook?! Even non-emets don't want to see something like that.. I now feel really 'off' and icky.. I'm not going to stop using Facebook because of it though.. and I'm temped to just make an account just for me and my friend only, then I won't see any of these news feeds. This is just more of a rant than anything and I'm sorry for it.

    Anyone else experienced something familiar?

Im sorry you had to see that! I hate it when people do this! Mines more when people feel the need to tell the whole world they have been ill! it puts me in a panic all day!.

I understand your fear. I never thought the pictures or videos or vomiting would bother me, but, after starting CBT last week and watching videos, I have been having nightmares

Oh yes...this just reminded me that 3 weeks ago a friend of mine (who lives 800 miles away) posted a picture of her 2 year old with a bowl and the caption states that he had his first stomach virus. Why would anyone want to see that???? Even though she lives so far away, it still induced a bit of a panic in me!

Yes absolutely. I have limited my facebook usage to practically once a month since I was scrolling down one day and saw a very similar picture. I personally think pictures of it should be banned from facebook or have some kind of censor where you have to click on the picture to see it. It kills me sometimes how insensitive the rest of the world can be to people with emetophobia. Like, what is the point of posting a pic like that online for everyone to see? People that find things like that funny or amusing are absolutely disgusting human beings in my eyes, I know that isn't a very open-minded thought but I can't deny the way I feel. And I know exactly what you mean by the "feeling off" thing. Every time I accidently come across it while watching tv or being online, I feel so off for a few hours afterwards, sometimes it's so bad to the point that I will replay the scene over and over again in my mind, which just makes it so much worse. The main thing I feel if I see it however, is embarassed. I feel so humiliated, down to my core, if i see any v*. Do you feel that way as well?

Hi guys! I totally agree with the censor thing! That's a really good idea. I doubt Facebook will do anything about it though.

@Sdd, that's terrible! I mean, no one wants to see something like that. You see, that's the problem with Facebook, or rather some people.. they feel the need to update EVERYTHING about what goes on in their life. Even something silly like, 'just got up and just brushed my teeth'. Haha. I would have felt the same though. I feel like I could catch it from touching the screen which of course is absolutely stupid.

@Evan, I also feel exactly the same way! I often have nightmares about it the next day if I happen to see or hear about anyone being s* as well. I had a nightmare the other day about it although I wasn't even thinking about anything v* related. Really tired of thinking, 'the SV could hit me at any time!'. That's the most scariest thing in my opinion.

Wouldn't that be awesome if they invented a device or glasses which you can buy and can see viruses and stuff on surfaces? XD We can only dream..

Posting a pic of yourself with a bucket after a hard night on the town is a very bad idea in today's employment environment. Potential employers will see that and possibly think this person is a lush. It is always a good idea never to post anything on FB you wouldn't want your pruddish 80 year old granny to see.

I really don't understand taking a photo of your child being ill or in an intimate moment like a diaper change. When I was in the military I once got suckered into a 40 minute home video of diaper changes and baby baths - mostly diaper changes. I'm sure one day that little boy will be so proud daddy filmed that to send to mommy overseas and share with all her friends. Not! Can you imagine this person's photo album? Baby's first step. Baby's first birthday. Baby's first tooth and oh look, honey, baby's first sv! Some moments are not meant to be saved and shared forever.

Eww! I reall can`t understand this mindset either, I mean, you don`t see people posting pictures of sh*tty nappies, or soiled underwear, or maybe any other bodily function, so why the obsession with v?
