Hi guys, i'm new here- sorry if I've put this in the wrong place, its just really freaked me out, I need to get it off my chest!

I was on the train today (as I go on there every day to uni), and suddenly could hear the sound of something splashing on the floor. I panicked for a second, coz I thought I'd knocked my drink over. Turns out a girl about 2 metres away from me just v'd... >__< I didn't see it at that point. The train stopped, and people were asking her if she was ok (she was crying), and she just ran off. I then made the mistake of looking out of the window at her. I saw just as she was doing it again, over a railing...it was absolutely disgusting, coz I saw it ALL.

I feel sick just thinking that I was in the same train compartment as her, breathing the same air, being so close...I feel so stupid thinking about it like that, but I guess thats what makes me an emetophobe. lol. It just keeps replaying in my head, and I start to panic that maybe I caught whatever she had.

I'm just after reassurance, I guess! Do you know if its possible to catch these sort of stomach flu things through them being airborne? I've always panicked about it, but never really known for sure...for the record, I feel fine. Just kinda anxious!

Oh I would not have liked that situation as it's mostly other people
being sick near me that bothers me. I'm pretty sure you won't have
caught it. It seems like she was probably not in the train for very
long while you were and 2 metres away isn't that close. It could be
anything that she had like food poisoning that you can't catch. I'd
just try and forget about it!

I know how you feel - I'd hate to have experienced that and would keep replaying it in my mind just to torture myself extra! I hate seeing anyone v*.

The chances of you catching a stomach bug from her are very slim, and she probably was ill for another reason anyway. She may have had motion sickness, morning sickness, or itmay have been something she ate, she might have even been hungover.

Try not to worry, I'm sure you'll be just fine. Oh, and welcome to the group, by the way!

Welcome! What a horrible experience that must've been! I'm not surprised you still have the images in your head- its so annoying! I still have images in my head at times but I tell myself "NO" and distract myself...

Try not to worry thatyou've caught something from the girl. Hopefully all will be well. xxx

I have a simlar experience. It happened at my cousins wedding (last november). One of people at the wedding, I think one of my cousins friend, had drank too much or something and v*. So, this one guy offered to take her home in his van. So, as we were leaving the wedding (it was over, anyway), I was left standing at the curb as my parents got the car, and parked not too far away was the guy that offered to take the girl home, and he was talking to himslef angerly. I peered over to see what was up, and apparently, she had v* all inside his van. She wasn't there, cause I think she went home with someone else after that, leaving this guy clean out the van. As my parents pulled up, a I looked back, and the guy started gagging and spitting on the ground. I tried to take it, but two mins into the drive home, I kept re-thinking about what just happened playing it over and over in my head, and as that was happening, I begin to ffel very panicky. I kept thinking of myself v* and stuff like that. Couldn't take it. Aksed my parents if I could crack the window, and I did and just layed my head against the window the rest of the trip, and the feeling did go away.

Good morning everyone. I am new here, so forgive me if I seem either a bit nervous or talkative. angel, I know exactly what you are talking about. That would have upset me so bad to the point where I would have wanted to get off the train and it would've taken me quite some time to even get the nerve to get back on a train, for fear that I may either see her again, or someone else in the same shape. I don't know how I am ever going to get over this fear.

the V'ing on the train situation happened to me like half a year ago to, was a friday night, was out late hanging out with some friends in the city - and finally got on the train at about 11pm, about 3 mins after the train left the station, the guy behind me V'ed like 4 times all over the floor, and his friend in the mean time is laughing his ass off... i was like "omgwtfbbq", but managed to keep cool for 15 mins till i got to my station then i got a cab home and had a panic attack when i got home :P

    sigh, good times

Thanks so much for the support, guys, I really mean it! I think I'm over it now...it is something that crosses my mind alot, though, considering I travel on a train to the city every day. There's a heck of alot of germs around >_> I wish I didn't have to be on alert all the time. I can be a bit of a compulsive hand-washer! I was actually very close to getting off the train at the next stop (which was totally stupid, because my car was parked about 5 stops away, so I would have been stranded, and panicked! lol). I stopped myself though. Tried to think of other things.

Derek and norrok, thanks for sharing...your experiences sound equally awful! Its good to know you got over them though.

Thanks again, everyone, for your kind words! =D God its a relief to know there are other people out there who feel the same.

when i used to work for learn direct (a computer education type business - for people that dont know :P), i had to take a 45 min train ride a day, 1 hour and 30 mins both ways - so i know totaly how you feel angel13, i found getting my head into a book, with some head phones, and some loud music (so i didnt hear anything eles :P [yea, i tended to miss my stop sometimes ]) worked wonders on making the train ride bareable you just have to shut everything eles out, sit near the rest room (not sure if its the same for you, but it felt like an escape exit in some ways) - if you try my three steps, it might make your train ride more enjoyable if not - Doh- just trying to give ya tips on the emet + train related subject, seeing as my previous post on this thread was not to helping

if one of my friends says 'i feel sick' i'm always like 'are you okay????? are you going to throw up??' that is always my response! Even though feeling sick doesn't always mean you will be sick....

Also, i was on a train once when a baby in a buggy threw up on himself a little bit, and i had to move down the train. It was a baby for Christ's sake, it was nothing! I don't know why it instantly made me feel so queesy...

I remember one time, about 5 years ago, when I was in the girls
bathroom at my old school, and I heard some gorl v* in the next booth.

When she came out, I just HAD TO ask her whether she was feeling sick because of something she ate or...

Considering that I didn't know the girl, this was a strange question,
but she told me that she had an awful headache, although she must have
thought that I was somekind of pervert

If I hadn't asked her, I surely would have freaked out and panicked for
the rest of the week about the possibility that she had an SV and I
    could have cought it.

I can remember every single time in the past 10 years when I've seen
someone v*, even on TV (if the scene is graphic), and all of them still
    keep replaying in my mind.

    That's terrible.

I'm glad that you weren't too traumatized and you are still able to get in a train.

    Ugh!

I understand your fears-I ride the bus several times a day, and have been on one someone has ralphed on. I had a terrible panic attack and had to run off the bus, where I sat at the stop in the cold and dark, shivering and crying for a half hour. I will avoid riding crowded buses because I don't know who may become ill...and I won't have a place to run.

Poor, poor you. I would have most assuredly not been able to handle that situation and could well have ended up hurting myself as I tried to find a way off the train - no, merely moving carriages would not have been enough!

Replay is a bitch, too. That happens to me frequently, even if I simply see v* on the pavement or something.. it just goes round and round in my head. Eventually other things distract me, but they have to be major other things (like a really busy time at work, or winning the lottery!), otherwise it doesn't work.

I think I am one of the rarer type of emets (or perhaps not a "proper" emet?) because I don't really have a problem with v*ing myself, just other people doing it (or, for that matter, coughing or cleaning their teeth).

This is my first post here, too, so can share your sense of relief that you are not the only one. I was not aware of the term "emetophobia" or anything associated with it - merely that I had huge panic attacks whenever someone did the nasty, or I saw what I suspected was v* in RL or in a film/TV programme etc.

By the way, does anyone else feel like v* seeks you out? I'm convinced that I am the only one who regularly sees it or experiences nasty v* moments - is this because I am more attuned to it, or is that just life dumping a big one on me? ^^

I know how you feel, Angel13. Whenever someone v* or says they feel sick, I'm automatically asking them if they're okay and if they're going to be sick, and then I get the idea that I feel sick aswell. Most of the time I think it's just me panicking, for example when I have nothing else to think about at night and I'm not tired, my mind automatically starts thinking 'What If I'm Sick' And that's when I start to panic and feel sick. Usually when I get like this I try to take my mind off it by watching TV or something. Most times my friends can help me. When I'm out somewhere in public, especially with my friends, I'm absolutely fine. It's at night mostly when I have nothing else to do. Also, if someone fairly close to me has a stomach bug or virus, I'll panic and think I'm going to catch it, and wash my hands every 2 minutes and not eat and avoid people. My Mum says it's me thinking too much about it and I should just forget about it but I can't...*Sigh*

Voxy, I too feel at times like v* seeks me out! Even one of my friends has commented that I seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time a lot regards people v*ing or graphically discussing v*. He often says, "It haunts you doesn't it!" Fingers crossed, touch wood, etc etc I've not had a too horrid encounter for a while now though...

I know, when it comes to seeing it around when I am walking down the street I am kind of more aware than others as my eyes are constantly scanning pavements and alleyways for the dreaded stuff - when we don't want to see something why do we go out of our way to look for it?!
