Hi, I'm new. Here's an experience. I remember waking up in the middle of the night (March 19th, 2002, yea, I remember the dates) and feeling not so good. I got up, went to the bathroom and went number 1 (I hope it's ok to say that ), thinking what I was feeling was just gas or something. Then, all of a sudden, I got 'the feeling', and I'll never forget runnning to the sick and putting my mouth under the faucet and gulping down the water. I had that "head collapsing into throte" feeling. After taking several sips of water, the feeling did not go away, and I rushed downstairs to the kitchen, got a glass of water, and drank it. I then refilled it, and went to the couch in the family room and sat on it, not beleiveing what was happening. I then got up, went downstairs (we have a finihshed basement). I decided to pop in a movie, so I picked the Prince of Egypt from out VHS collection. Offcourse, it needed to be rewound, so as I was waiting, I rememebr getting the v* feeling, only stronger. I was pacing all over the basement floor, as the tape was rewinding. That's when I got a botteled water from the storage closet and chugged that, to keep "it" down. The feeling did go away after those mins of panicking. As I was watching the movie, I think that I did have a stomach virus, becuase, just like a person who v* during that virus, I'd get eh feeling in 30 min cycles, and when I did I just chugged water. Lol, I remember getting used to it, and not feeling so panicky after a while. But I REFUSED to put a bucker/trashcan near me, because I refused to believe that I MIGHT v*. I was awake for the rest of the night. In the morning, I told my dad about it, and he said it was "nerves" and that I really wasn't sick. I felt the v* in my throte, the feeling came in tntervals, it wasn't NERVES! That whole day, I basically hung out on the couch watchin TV (my dad let me stay home from school. I remember not getting the feeling again, but, in return, feeling REALLY crappy.By the end of the day, I managed to get through 4 reg. sized bottels of Poland Spring Water. As the enening came, I became frightened that, in the night, the feeling would come back again. Idid go to sleep that night, and I woke up the next morning ok. Although, fora whole week and a half, my body wasall out of wack. I got diarreha the day after getting the virus, and Ithink that was the only way for my baody to realease the toxins, since I refused the 1st way.a fewdayslater, I got the 2nd worst the, sour stomach, where I would burp REALLY nasty burpsevery2 mins. I wasn't worried at all, I rememebr reading Calvin and Hobbes before I went to bed. Well, et me tell you, I woke up, and I had a really strong urge to burp,so did, and it was very long,to the point where I needed to take a breath to continue it. I remember the nasty taste of it, and during the second "round", I fealt my stmach contacting, and I began to gag. Thank GOD I had a water bottel not too far from my bed that night, or I would ahve made a mess. I rememebr after gulping the water, I sat on the side of my bed for an HOUR.The radio was on in my room, so the songs that were popular around that time, remind me of v*, which isvery unfortumate, lol. Okay, I'm done. I think the purpous of this thread for me was to introduce myself with a really detailwed storyabout one of my many v* experienced

i can relate to a lot of what you just said... i too refuse to let mself vomit. at all. in return i instead feel groggy for days and days afterwards, but i don't care as long as i dont vomit.

also now tht my parnts kno about myfear whenever i feel truly ill (cos i doknow the difference now between axniety illness and real illness)they wil say "its probably just anxiety, just stop thinking about it". i will be jumping up and down.. (or not as the case may be)... shouting !"Its NOT anxiety, this is DIFFERENT". bt they still dont believe me =P

    welcome to the site anyway!

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn\'t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn\'t know that so it goes on flying anyway.

Aww, that sounds like such an awful thing to go through. Its good you found ways of distracting yourself and it probably helped at the time(?). You coped well. I had a simialar event the other day when I was onmy way home from work and I'm sure I felt 'it' rise up my throat and had to swallow(just a little but whether it was just acid or whatever, I don't know) but I felt extremely anxious for the next 2 days. And I also cannot tell anymore whether its just anxiety or if its real... I hope to be able to distinguish between the two soon because its driving me crazy!

Its great you feel you could share your experience in such a detailed way. Everyone is here to share and hear each other's experiences, whether good or bad. I'm sure you will find a lot of support from all the lovely people in these forums.

I think that is the main source of my anxiety, that I can't distinguish between anxiety and actual sickness. Since i hav never vomited just from anxiety, I get so scared when i get the feeling because I don't know if I should ifnd a bathroom or what. So anytime I feel anxious OR sick i panic and lock myself in a bathroom (by the way for me, i either feel sick or anxious ALL the time). Not very convenient to spend your life in a bathroom.

I can't believe you were able to chug water when you were that sick. Does it really help? I can't put anyhting in my mouth except gum/mints. Sometimes I will suck ice chips if I feel gaggy.
