Lately I've been eating so much, and usually I try to eat small meals so that if I v* it won't be a lot. The only problem is, I love food. I've been pacing around trying to get my mind off of food and I tell myself "If you eat that insert food here you'll regret it later." Of course it never works and I eat until I feel like I'm about to explode. I've watched TV, I've read, I've played games, I've taken naps, I've even tried light snacking. None of it gets my mind off food. Does anyone else feel like this? Does anyone have advice on how toget my mind off food? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I think about eating food A LOT especially at night when I'm about to go to sleep. I don't eat a lot though. I usually just snack through out the day and eat one big meal such as lunch or dinner. As for getting your mind off of it I would suggest finding a good book to read. I know that when I'm reading something interesting everything seems to go quiet and I get sucked into my own little world. Also playing games on or offline or just talking to someone about how you are feeling helps too.

That sounds like me. Its like I have no self control sometimes. I snack all day too and only eat like one meal. Even the computer doesn't take my mind off of eating. When I'm studying I like to eat too. Its crazy. Oh yes, then I do regret it afterwards because I start to panic. I hate that. =T

I can totally sympathise! I absolutely love food too and sometimes it seems like I am constantly hungry and constantly thinking about food! I do try and stick to a regime though as I don't like to be overweight. My tips would be:

Eat a good healthy breakfast and if you feel like a snack mid morning eat a cereal bar or some fruit (same with if you feel peckish mid afternoon). Have a sandwich, jacket potato, some soup (nothing too big) for lunch, then have a nice filling meal in the early evening.

Try having a cup of tea or coffee when you feel like you want to eat something or nibble on a few crackers or crisp breads to take the hunger pangs away. It's good to have a few healthy dips in the fridge and a few veggies cut up to dip intothemeg carrots, cucumber, celery, peppers. Buy low fat, healthier choice crisps, I mean chips, lol - you'll probably know we call them crisps in UK. I adore crisps/chips (more so than chocolate - and I love chocolate!) and could eat loads but I limit myself to one pack a day and buy the lowerfat ones.

Some people can resist eating for the sake of it by going and cleaning their teeth when they fancy a snack - that clean, pepperminty mouth feeling can sometimes deter you from eating.

Give yourself a day off now and again where if you fancy a bit of a splurge with naughty foods (eg a nice burger and fries, pizza, chocolate bar, iceream , whatever), go for it. Just don't do it too regularly.

And finally keep in mind that we often eat when we are bored - if you find that to be the case, go do something entertaining instead!
[/list]

It's not easy at first, changing the way you eat, but you do get into a routine and it becomes a lot easier to resist food or just replace the naughty, unhealthy food that we so love with healthy options.

    Good luck!

LOL! I can totally relate. Food is the many splendors of this life! It's harmony, tranquil, ecstasy! Except no matter how much I want to eat and stuff my face I'm always precautious to avoid making myself sick. Also another weird thing I do is I try to only eat foods that I think if I did get sick on, it wouldn't taste so bad so the whole vomiting obstacle would be less traumatizing.

I agree with Jen, however. Exercising sounds like that would work. Or it may also increase your appetite that way you can eat something satisfying afterwards, and be full for the rest of the day depending on when and how long you exercise. I honestly have no clue. =/

Wow. Thank you all for giving me some advice. I didn't think that most people would have food on their minds all the time. You are all great at giving support and I appreciate it so much. So, I'm going to change my eating habits and then we'll see how it goes. I've been meaning to get back into exercising anyway so now I have a few more good reasons to. Thank you again!
