Well, hi there everybody. Haven't been around in awhile because my anxiety has been VERY low with V this summer. I have stayed active and kept my mind off it. It helps that it's not exactly flu season...
Sooo I hate to be the one who brings this up but it's just around the corner where I turn into an abso;ute freak and make everyone around me miserable. Flu season starts around the end of October and ends around March or so...at least where I am from
Any words of encouragement? I am scared to face this time of year again...

All I can advise is just keep your hands cleansed thoroughly, watch what you eat (not that it has anything to do with you eat, but it's good to eat nutritious - helps build the immune system), and stay calm. Just because it's flu season doesn't mean you're destinedto be one of the few that catch whatever is going around.

Are you worried about actually getting the flu or about getting a sv?
If you're worried about the flu then you could get a flu shot. I know
I'm going to because I'll be living on a huge college campus and the
university health center gives them for free.

As for sv though, I'm scared of those too especially considering where I'll be living! :gulp:

I always hear the phrase "cold and flu season." That means influenza. Is there really a particular stomach virus season?

Try not to think about it! Just because its "that time of year" doesn't mean that you're going to get sick, or anyone is, its just the same as any time of the year, you're more likely going to get sick if you're constantly thinking about it, take it out of your mind, keep yourself busy and don't keep your eye on the calander!

Ditto that!!

I used to think summertime was safe, that I'd never get v* sick then. Turns out I got a real nasty bug right in the middle of summer! It just goes to show, try and not worry too much because your chances aren't much greater any time of the year. Think of all the people you come in contact with and you don't get sick. I went 10 years in grade school in contact with hundreds of people everyday, and never got v* sick, so try and not worry too much. Just wash those paws and such, eat good and you should be a-ok!

yeah, you'll be fine! I'm in the southern hemisphere, and am just nearing the end of our flu season- I on'y had a small dose of hayfever and a cold! I've actually never had the flu...so if I can avoid it, so can you! What r311dude said...don't let it worry you. NOT knowing about whats going around is far less worrying than knowing what IS going around, so as long as you're aware of keeping your hands clean, and your vitamins and fluids up, you should be strong enough to get through it fine! ^_^

Thanks everyone for motivating me to not be worried, but I guess that's part of the phobia. I will fear these things for as long as i live. I know it's possible to get the flu in the summer- I have had it too, but where I live gastrointestinitis goes around like crazy during the winter months. Everyone get's it around EVERYONE and i have been lucky so far but when is my luck going to run out?

Everytime I hear/read the word "Flu" I automatically think SV but that's not true. I freak out about the smallest things, like West Nile Virus used to scare me but I find that if I don't follow the news on it or read about it then I don't worry about it. Plus I haven't been bitten by a misquito in years...I don't know why I guess they just don't like me. Anyway like everyone else said, try not to worry too much about it, and if you are THAT worried get a flu shot, they hurt like a Son of a Mother after you get them but that only lasts about a day and I would take that over getting sick anytime.
