Hi Sage, I need some help, and I hoping you might be able to do this for me.

I actually went into the thread that you wrote for family and your doc. I was so impressed, and I believe now that I only have this phobia, versus this phobia AND panic disorder. I always thought that if I could get rid of this phobia I would rid myself of the panic as well.

So, my question is....do happen to have a book or guide that have dr's that will treat emetophobia? I went to one shrink here in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and I knew more than he did about panic disorder. Another social worker told meI had an eating disorder. I feel like I am stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no good doctors around to help me.

    Thanks so much, Sage.

    HI Crystal,

I know it's hard to find a therapist. {Actually, have you read that paper, too? It's called HOW TO GET PROFESSIONAL HELP} It says in there that the therapist doesn't have to know about emetophobia in order to treat it. Next time you interview a therapist, take the INFO paper with you, and go through it with them, or better yet drop it off before your appointment and talk about it when you go.

The interview process is a pain in the neck, I know. But it's worth it in the end cuz it's your life.

I'm sure there are ample good therapists in Red Deer. Just don't get discouraged and give up on it.

Hey if you have the money and worst comes to worst you can come to Vancouver for a while and see me! (I don't charge for therapy, but you'd have to figure out how to get here and stay for long enough to get a good start on treatment) Anyway, that's kind of drastic. I think you'll find someone in Red Deer alright. Good luck, eh?

Thanks so much for the advice Sage! There aren't alot of therapists in Red Deer, and I don't know why, it's getting pretty big. I will see what I can do, and what I can find out.

How much time would I need to be in Van???? It is a definate option I will keep in mind.

    Again, thanks!

I was thinking about that after I said it - lol.

I guess 6 months would really get you going places with treatment. However that's unrealistic, isn't it? Any time spent working on it would be worthwhile, though. But hopefully you can find someone in Red Deer. Good luck!
