Seems its something we all get! So how do you handle yours?

I tend to get it at night, just before going to bed (I have a real fear of going to bed, because I'm terrified of v*ing during the night. Badchildhood experience. But enough about that). Sometimes its easier to control than others.

I recently bought a couple of books. "The little book of calm" and "the little book of sleep". LOL- right, they sound very corny, and ok, I guess they are- but no joke, they really do work. If at any time I'm feeling worried, and my emetophobia starts playing up before I got to sleep, I'll open a few random pages of the books, and take in the advice...they really do calm me down. They have all sorst of tips on meditation, and breathing exercises, and things to think about, or do, to settle down.

I like going outside too, and taking deep breaths of fresh, country night air. Its so clean and refreshing!

What do you guys do to calm your nerves?

I use breathing techniques, or distration. I will play cards with my boyfriend, play games on the internet. Something to keep my mind busy so it doesn't started thinking crazy, it focuses on what I am doing.

I have major nighttime anxiety - it's more to do with worrying that somebody else will be ill during the night than myself...I hear every little noise. I cope by having a fan on in my room and listening to my ipod. However these aren't very constructive, so i'm trying to wean myself off them

I seem to get a lot of anxiety at night too. From all the times I got sick, well most of them anyway, it was always at night. Particularly around 3 AM - weird. What seems to calm me down the most when my anxiety is sky-high either about my self or others is going outside and walking. Unlike the city (San Diego), here (Florida) it's very clean, plenty of wildlife and foliage, and critters to keep my mind occupied while I watch them. Unfortunately I leave in 14 days back to the city, so I don't know what I'm going to do. =(
