Default Suggestions; (for those have have reflux/needing to burp etc)

Since I had a bad night in the summer last year, it flared my emet up in true style.

Since then I've been getting "stomach acid" (I know we all have it but I mean I can actually feel it) and if my stomach is empty (like first thing in the morning) it such a horrible feeling, it makes me feel gassy too.

This is what my question is about; This anxiety-fuelled 'condition' is making my stomach feel weird. I need to burp all the time and the acidic feeling is horrible. I use rennie but they only help for so long.

I had a test late last year to see if there was anything wrong with my stomach and it came back fine!

    Unhappy :(

I'm exactly the same way! I'm soooo sick of living with it as it makes me feel so nauseous and like I may v* (although I never have and won't do).

It's those v* tasting burps and bringing up liquid that does it for me.. I don't panic much when it happens anymore as I know I won't v* from it but still.. the taste just reminds me of the last time I was s* with the SV. It's so cringe worthy.

Most days I am feeling ok now, but on the odd occasion, I get flare-ups and they are really bad.. I saw a specialist at the hospital a few weeks ago and said I may have a Hiatus Hernia. I was supposed to have an endoscopy on the 1st May but they said they didn't think it was necessary. So now I have to wait till October until I visit the Hospital again. Another 5 months of this rubbish..

Thing is, I don't even know if I have acid reflux or not as I don't even get the acidic feeling, or heartburn.

It's really bad and to be honest it's this that's getting on my nerves more than the actual phobia. When I feel anxious (which can be quite a lot of the time) I will need to burp. But sometimes when I'm calm I need to burp, but I guess it's because my body is used to this now and it doesn't know when to switch off!

Same here! I noticed that I don't need to burp as much at all when I'm not anxious or having a good day, but when I am having a bad day then I am burping literally every 5 minutes. They're not 'normal' burps either, they're very small and often needs forcing to pass. It's very irritating! If I ever find out what the problem is then I will be sure to let you know.

yes my reflux has gotten pretty bad along with the anxiety, so i end up feeling very nauseous 24/7, it's so horrible. I think settling the anxiety will for sure help the reflux though, because i rarely had a problem before my anxiety became bad.

I think you're right laura-rose as I was virtually fine before my anxiety/emet flared up big style. It's constant burping etc and they're really trapped burps too i.e feeling really uncomfortable and that if they don't come out soon, you'll start gagging.

It's probably just acid reflux It's fine. I have this as well and i've had it for a long time, it's fairly easy to live with. First and absolutely most important, make sure your stomach isn't empty! If you wake up feeling nauseous (usually i get this "hollow" feeling in my stomach pit, like it's all empty and just drained kind of, at the same time as it kind of burns), eat some dry crackers or bread the first thing you do. It will soak up the acid and make you feel better. Even if you wake up (or just start to) feeling nauseous, you will NOT v* from eating when your acid is acting up. I promise. Other than that, make sure you don't drink any caffeinated drinks (coffee, energy drinks etc. Coke is fine), spicy food, sour stuff like citrus fruits or fruit juices, fatty food like french fries etc etc. Also have some antacid at home that you can take when it gets bad.

Last night I was in bed and had to "lean up" because I needed to burp (this happens regularly throughout the night since this sudden urge to burp constantly arrived) and it was trapped, and I'm not sure why but I panicked a bit and it felt like it was becoming more trapped. Now even though it's uncomfortable i'd probably be fine and able to cope however a few months back I needed burp and dry heaved, however that day was very stressful (circumstances at home left me in a right state) so I am wondering if that was mainly the cause of it as my body was in a state of stress. But ever since then, every time I feel gas is trapped in my stomach, it makes me wonder if I'm going to heave or v*.

In all fairness, heaving *feels* the same as v* so to me there's no difference so I get panicky.

As I type I need to burp badly but I'm trying to remain calm.
