Hi everyone, sorry to post a topic that will join a whole load of others but just felt I had to. Maybe I should have just read over other peoples posts which are similar but I just wanted to tell you all - sorry!!

I'm at work and one of the girls was off last week. She came in this morning and said she finally stopped v* on monday and had been at the doctor 4 times to get medicine to stop her from being s*. Sounds awful. I asked if she had caught a sv and she said she didn't know. Now i'm panicking cause i just ate a biscuit without washing my hands properly (i only rinsed them). I has only touched one thing that she has but there will be other things that all my collegues have touched and then touched what I have touched - ahhh!!

I know it sounds so daft but I can't help being concerned that I caught whatever she has had. I feel ok (a bit of anxious n*!) but can only sit and wait. . . . .

Thanks for reading about my concern!!

I really hope I don't catch anything. I'm going on holiday on monday - i don't think i'd cope if was ill, i'm nervous enough with my emet already.

I dont know what she could have been sick with, and I dont know what kind of anti-emetics you guys have there in the UK, but I would think that if this girl had a virus, that there would have been some kind of anti-emetic that would have stopped her from being sick. How is this girl feeling now?

From what she said she is feeling a bit better but she wasn't feeling perfect. She didn't seem fazed by it at all but I know she was very ill - it sounds pretty traumatic!!

No, Of course we don't think you're being silly. I do the same thing myself. I also am kinda scared about the anti-emets not working too. Mabey she was faking because thatsoundsto horrific even to a non-emet to be un-fazed about.

Nobody here will think you are being silly because most of us would react the same way in your situation.

I think the chances of you getting the sv are very slim. And I don't know whether any other emets out there have found this but if there is a stomach bug going around and I pick it up (which thankfully is very rarely), I seem to be effected at the other end ie with diarrhoea. I know having the runs is horrible but it's something I can cope with far better than v*ing. WhatI'm trying to say is, us emets seem to get sv's far less than other people, and if we do (well, in my experience) it tends to effect us in other ways than v*ing.

Sorry if I've rambled on a bit there, just wanted to get the message across to you that I think you'll be just fine!

Thanks for your reply. I'd more than ahppily have d* if it meant not v*!!!! Any day!!! I have come into work again today, I am sort of temporary and part time but I need to make some hours up so I decided to come in today regardless. Could VERY easily have stayed at home but I have to get on with things. Only here for half a day though which isn't so bad.

Wish I could juist forget about emet - it's driving me nuts. Thinking about it day and night - I'm so tired!!! Going on holiday on Monday with my boyfriend. Part of me is SOO excited but I am a little anxious just in case I get travel tummy or eat something funny cos wont really be able to cook for myself - we'll prob have to eat out. We are camping and youth hostelling. Hopefully be in a tent more cos not too comfortable with lots of people I don't know in one room etc. We will be on trains a lot too which makes me uncomfortable but I'm damned if I'm missing out on a fab holiday and I'll be with my boyfriend who knows all about my fears and he tries to be supportive. We've been together for 4 and a half years so he's got some practice!!!

    Thanks for your encouraging post

    You're welcome

I understand your concerns about travelling and going on holiday, I go through the same things whenever I go away! What I find is we do all this worrying beforehand and mull over the 'what ifs', only for us to be absolutely fine and have a fab holiday, which I'm sure will be the case for you!

I know what you mean about emet driving you nuts as it's on your mind day and night - sometimes I even dream about it, so no escape in my sleep either!

Good for you for going into work even though you had concerns about it - this is something really positive, well done!

AnywayI hope you and your fella havea really fantastic holiday, we will, of course, expect to hear all about it when you get back
