I'm 13, and I started my periods yesterday.. So without the emetophobia, I'm feeling pretty shaky already. Tomorrow I am going to a wildlife centre type thing.. We went there last week and I was fine, I did feel a bit s* on the way there but that was travelling really. It's about an hour's journey there I think.

So now I'm feeling twice as anxious about tomorrow because of my periods too. Eek everything is coming all at once. I keep telling myself that I will be fine, but come tomorrow, I'll be all over the place - what can I do?

Have you even been travel sick? If not, when you said you felt bad last week it may have been due to anxiety - this can make us feel nauseous. If you do get travel sick there are a number of things you can do to help you feel better such as looking far ahead out the window, not reading and making sure you don't travel on an empty stomach (a light snack would be good enough). Sucking peppermint or ginger sweets may help too.

It's a big thing starting your periods and wondering what you are going to feel like, but try not to worry - it's the most natural thing in the world and means you are changing into a young lady If it's any consolation I've been having periods for about twenty years now and they have never once made me v* or even caused the slightest nausea.

Tomorrow take some deep, relaxing breaths and try and think positively. If it helps, whilst travelling imagine yourself in a beautiful, calming place (my 'place' is in a wood, dappled with sunlight, laid at the side of a clear blue stream, listening to the sound of the water and birds singing), this will help you relax if you are getting anxious.

I'm sure you will be just fine. Have a fab day!

Well yay! I just got back and I'm glad to say that I was fine!

I know how to stop the s* feeling! :P I had literally two minutes to wash and change and get out the door - no time for sitting on the loo and moping I feel great today!

Although I did see somebody v* at lunch which put me off my food completely but hey - not my fault?!

That's great news - I knew you'd be fine! And seeing somebody v* would probably put most people off their lunch not just us emets!

I'm feeling really proud of myself actually!

Next big thing is going to the orthodontics on tuesday and have somebody poke around in my mouth

Try not to worry too much - I've had so much dental work done, you name it I've hadit (my teeth are not the strongest!), and I've never felt even the slightest bit nauseous because of it. Also dentists and orthodontists are used to people being nervous, so are very sympathetic. If you are feeling very uneasy about things it may help to just mention it to the orthodontist, I'm sure s/hewill put you at ease.

    You'll be fine

Ah I think I will be okay- I kind of have this fear of buses or something XD

I love going places in the car but I don't like goingon buses - Actually it's just me thinking that I'm going to v* over somebody on the bus XD

But we are going to the orthadontics in the car so I don't know why I'm worrying :P
