i was happily eating a very tasty nectarine when i got to the last bite and a flipping maggot showed it's head out of the top of the nectarine!!!!! it was obviously frantically running away from my chomping teeth but YUCK!

of course 1.) i'm scared it will make me sick.. i'm also scared (hoever irrational this is) that maybe some eggs got into my stomach and will hatch there and yeah... taht will make me sick....

    YUCK! i feel sick =|

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn\'t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn\'t know that so it goes on flying anyway.

p.s i really want to post something constructive to try and make you
feel better, but i cant think of anything to say, i have a huge fear of
bugs, actually i can say that it is almost impossible that the maggot
has laid eggs as they cant as far as i know lay eggs as they are only
    pupae (sp?)

I think if that happened I would flip out, possibly actually get sick and then never ever ever ever ever eat a nectarine AGAIN. OMG. Jenneh, you are brave!

First thought: Anyone will be appalled by seeing a bug in his/her fruit.

I think it is just gross and shocking. I don't think it hurts you physically. Just mentally.

Okay, I can't say I wouldn't find it very disturbing too. I would, but
rest assured there's no physical reason it should make you sick. It's
disgusting but a lot of insects are actually very edible, as a matter
of fact it's something they teach in extreme survival courses.

As for it laying eggs, maggots are only babies so they cannot lay eggs
and even if they did they certainly would not hatch in your stomach!
The human stomach is extremely acidic so it would kill them in an
    instant.

The only reason you might get sick is if you freak your self out so bad
that you make yourself sick so you need to just try your best to calm
down. I know that it probably seems impossible right now but you need
to try. Find a clam place to sit and get a glass of water and sip it
    slowly.

Jenneh you should be fine. A few weeks ago I ate some salad which I found a maggot and a half in.....yes I'd probably eaten the other half. It wasn't bagged salad and I knew it hadn't been washed before I ate it, and I was still fine so I'm sure you'll be ok :-)

You will be just fine. Any funny feeling in your stomach after eating this will be through anxiety and the thought of eating something so yukky. As chicajojobe said many bugs, grubs and things are edible and in some countries they are treated as a delicacy!

I've eaten apples before and get down to the core, only for a grub to come crawling out - it does turn your stomach becasue we are brought up thinking eating such things is gross, but it absolutely won't make you ill. Even so, I always cut apples in half now before I eat them

Jenneh, I seriously do not think you ate a maggot, probably a fruit worm. the reason I say this is bacause maggots only go to rotten stuff. And if you had found one you would have found a dozen. Look at it this way you got a serving of fruit and meat at the same time. try and see the humorus side of it. I work on a hog farmand trust me, they WILL NOT make you sick. I will not tell you how I know this, but trust me!!
