I don't want my life to revolve around this anymore, I want to be able to go places andto university and get a job without having this fear hanging over me. I want to be a teacher and how am I supposed to do that if its with little kids who get ill? And how can I go to university if my room mates are getting drunk and throwing up? Its so frustrating. I just want it to go away, I can't deal with it anymore.

Go ahead and get mad at it. Be sick of it. I truely believe that is one way to be free of it. It is frustrating, isn't it? Just remember.. If our brains are powerful enough to make us this nuts, then surely we can use them to beat this, too. Maybe now is the time for you to finally beat this thing.

yes. emet is a big bully who has no right to make us stop living our lives! you show that bully who rules the roost and do one of those things on your list! You can do it. emet only has as much power as we LET it take from us.

^Haha, thats a good way of looking at it, Babydoll! Yeah, emet IS a big bully, ruling your life, telling you what to do, interferring with all your choices. You've gotta tell it where to go! =D

Think of all the good things, rather than the bad, Hannah. Think of how much fun you'll have if you go to uni! Think of how much joy you'll get out of teaching! Don't ever be scared of emetophobia, or let it have the upper hand - you've got every right to get as angry as you want with it.

I agree, if you get mad at emet...it is easier to say, "get the f*** lost!"

The past few times I started having anxiety attacks, I got angry at them. I told myself..."You are not going to win this again! I am sick of it. My mind can beat this!" And you know what?? It worked! Maybe we should just keep saying it!! Charlotte

Hey Hannah, i feel your frustration and pain.. i really do and iwish there was some way i cud help you (and all of you here, and myself!) but it's going to take time i guess .... just try not to panic Hannah. It's easy to say i know, but you're not about to go to uni are you? I didnt feel ready for university cause of emet so ni've taken a gap year, and surly u can do the same? theres always ways to get around any predicament you may be in. this included.

    you're not alone.
