    Hi!

I already wrote a post about this but it seems that I am feeling sick to my stomach if I don't keep taking sedatives. I'm now trying to reduce my dose little by little but I keep feeling sick and panicky every day. I was taking Serax but I switched to Valium cause it's supposed to be easier to taper from. I've been takingmotionsickness pills whenever I feel sick due to this but I'm wondering how long I can keep taking those without getting addicted to them.Does anybody know? And what if I do become "addicted" to them, what are the withdrawal symptoms from them? Idon't know what else to do except to keep taking the motion sickness pills. I really need to try to get off the Valium so I can't turn to it every time I feel sick. Ialso have something called Metoclopramide but somehow I'm under the impression it might affect the anti-psychotic Seroquelthat I'm taking.

I don't know if I can handle the mental side of reducing the Valium but I know I can't handle the feeling sick part. I hope some of you have some information about the use ofanti-emetics (motion sickness pills). Please help me out if you can.

    Tiina

Ps. I've also been drinking coke and pepsiand it helps some but not enough cause this is more like a central nervous system thing than just my stomach.

Do you believe in using homeopathic remedies and herbal stuff? I switched to natural stuff while weening myself off of meds. It actually worked quite well.

I don't know if I believe in herbal stuff in general but I would think they wouldn't help when the feeling sick is from reducing meds cause it's a central nervous system thing at that point. But what are the remedies you used? Maybe I would consider trying them if they're available over here.

I would use ginger for the nausea. I know there are things that work better, but it's helped me tremendously. And, I would ween myself from the benzo's to using kava kava, valerian root and st. johns wort. Do they have herbal vitamin shops there? I just did research on the internet and looked in some of my sister's holistic medicine books (she's studying to be a holistic nutritionist).

But, you sound pretty negative about it. If you have doubts about any treatment it probably wont work for you. Know what I mean? Good luck.

Let me reword that. You don't sound negative.. You sound skeptical. And, if you don't believe in a certain treatment, it cannot work for you. I didn't want to come off sounding harsh or like I didn't care. And, I do understand people not believing in herbal remedies. All I can say is they have helped me many times, but possibly it was my belief that they would help that actually helped me. Our minds are like that, you know?

    hi shiva!

I went to a store that sells vitamins and stuff and asked if they had any ginger stuff for nausea and they had some ginger stuff but the package said it's good for your joints and ligaments and didn't say anything about nausea. Do you think this kind of ginger extract (or whatever it is) would help even though it says on the package that it's for your joints?

I'm already having nausea and I haven't even reduced my dose yet. =( Well I tried to but had to go back up. I don't know how I'll ever be able to get off of this stuff cause it causes nausea and I panick and will do anything to make it go away, including taking more of the benzo even if it messes up my taper.

Hmmm.. I have no idea. I've never heard that ginger helps the joints. That stinks that they weren't able to help you better. I don't know what to tell you. The ginger that I take actually says may help stomach upset and nausea.

Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe they can giveyou something that will help out. It's a bummer that these medications have to come along with withdraw side effects. I wish you the best of luck with getting off the meds. Just take it as slow as you have to.
