Default need some immediate reassurance! please!!

So, it's my first couple days of college and i have been a nervous wreck! i can barely eat which is making me feel AWFUL, but everytime i try to eat it's like i can't swallow! I am also on my period so i feel weak already. BUT HERE IS THE WORST PART! My mom came with me to drop me off at college and she stayed in a hotel nearby for a few nights. she called me yesterday morning saying that she had been throwing up all morning. She said it was food poisoning from some bad tofu that she ate but she wasn't sure. She ended up going to the hospital because of dehydration. she said that she wasnt contagious and that the doctors said that she wasn't contagious, but how would they know! i had to go pick her up from the hospital and she hugged me and kissed me on the cheek multiple times. Am i doomed!? should i just trust that the doctors know that she wasn't contagious? I am stressed about college enough with out having to deal with the stomach flu. please help calm my nerves!

Tgere are tests doctors can do to check for food poisoning. Its possibpe that they knew for certain. Youre going to be just fine.

I agree, the doctors would have run tests inclusive of stool sample and blood work. They can find organisms in both that would determine whether or not she had food poisoning. The doctors wouldn't have told her that she's not contagious if they weren't sure. That being said, her being in your car with you, kissing you and touching you can't give you a virus. You have to ingest the virus which you didn't. Sounds like she is on the mend and that this will be a faint memory very soon. Try to find something else to focus on today. Start a project or hang out with new friends, this is honestly a waste of time to think about as nothing is going to come from it and you'll wish you had these hours and days back. You are fine!

If the doctors say she wasn't contagious then i'm sure she wasn't, and the doctors know far more than what we know
