Default Advice needed please: might be graphic for some!

    Hey guys,

I'd like some advice please, I had a bad tummy last night!!

I had my dinner last night which was a safe dinner that I regularly eat and my stomach felt funny after eating but that's nothing new because I've got/had gastritis which I'm currently trying to fix.

Anyway I've also been struggling to poop for the past few days. I managed to more or less empty my bowels (but had to strain because I was a fair bit constipated) on the weekend and think I was having constipated pellet poops on Friday (and maybe Thursday) but only managed to go a tiny amount Monday and the same yesterday during the day time. There was actually a bit yesterday that I wanted to get out but I couldn't.

Anyway after dinner, I took a ranitidine for my gastritis (started then Monday evening) and enjoyed my evening and then just as I was getting ready for bed I started to get terrible gas pains. Like I've never had as much pain from gas before. Not even a warm hot water bottle was numbing the pain. I figured it was gas that couldn't get out and so tried to poop that little bit of stuck poop from earlier hoping that it would let me pass the painful gas.

I managed that (hoorah) but was still in pain so went back to the toilet for another gas passing session. What I was expecting was to end up passing a bit more constipated poop then a lot of normal poop before having a lot of watery D! I was surprised I had so much poop in me!

I felt loads better after that for a bit but then had watery D on two desperate trips and a gurgly tummy so I eventually took some D tablets so I could get to sleep.

It worked though and I went straight to sleep. But I'm concerned my tummy is going to stay bad!

I know it's not an SV thankfully! But am worried its something wrong with my bowels!

I'm stopping the ranitidine (I have omeprazole I can take instead) in case that's caused my bad tummy and I did think that maybe last night was to do with being kind of constipated for a few days and once that first bit of poop happened it kind of opened the door for my bowels and they went berserk!

I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts and similar experiences (if any) though please!

That happens to me a lot. I was recently diagnosed with a redundant colon. So the GI doc said my colon is extremely long and doesn't function. I often strain only to get out those little pellets. It's very frustrating. And the D is just from everything being stuck up behind the hard stool. Been in that situation too. I'm not sure about the Randitine. I've been taking 3-6 a day for the past 4 years for my gastritis that won't go away. But I don't think it's the cause of my issues. The doctor said I was born with my colon extra long, twisted and in the wrong side. Apparently my appendix is below my belly button too. So that was pretty interesting to find out after 31 years and doctors saying its only IBS for years.

I've noticed charcoal caps for gas is the only thing that helps. It's not immediate but it will eventually calm the pain down. I get it so bad I can hardly move. My husband thinks I over exaggerate it. But those gas cramps are the worst pain I ever felt.

    Hope you feel better soon

This happens to me all the time. I will give you a piece of advice though, I would really recommend that you stray away from D pills cause it catches up to you and prolongs the D and gurgles. If it comes to having D again I would tough it out and get through it cause it hopefully will end there and wont happen for awhile!

    Thanks both for your replies.
I've still got stomach pains today and also a lot of pain in the lower left side of my bowel but no more D. My tummy just feels poorly.

Just to add to my digestive issues, I had to do triple therapy for h pylori a couple of weeks ago which was a 7 day course of two types of antibiotics though I actually felt better on them than I do now and my bowels were LOADS better on them perhaps that's affected my digestive system.

Would you suggest I keep eating veggies or give it a miss tonight?

Think I'm going to ask my Doctor to refer me to a gastro specialist for both a lower and upper endoscopy.
