Exclamation Food poisoning or stomach bug?

On Sunday night, my neighbors and I went out to eat at Red Robin. Within 4 hours, one of the people was sick with D*. By morning, 3 more were sick with D* and tummy aches. And by Monday evening, my daughters were sick, one with tummy aches and the other with V*. My husband and I are the only ones that didn't get sick. I have been an emetophobe for as long as I can remember and I am freaking out that we might have a bug going through the house, even though my gut tells me it is probably food poisoning.

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    Its hard to tell...

but, if your daughters and the other people in your party shared a food item, or all got the same thing, or all got burgers and you guys got chicken sandwiches or something that would tend to tell me that they have food poison. Red Robin is notorious for it, especially given that they have the option to have your burgers pink in the middle (YUCK!).

But if they all ate different things, sounds like a bug. Good news is you and your hubby have not gotten it yet. Make sure you are washing your hands and cleaning surfaces with a bleach/water solution, as it is the only way to kill noro. I am sure you already know this, but when you clean your bathroom 1) wear disposable gloves, taking care to not touch the outer surface of the glove when you take them off; 2) dispose of the gloves immediately; 3) anything disposable in your bathroom is thrown away, all toothbrushes etc etc are thrown out if the toilet lid was open when flushed after someone vomited/had diarrhea; 4) after cleaning bathroom surfaces, after touching door knobs and before preparing food/before you eat with your hands that you wash your hands for 30 seconds (hot or cold water will work) to scrub the virus off of the surface of your skin. Ensure that the water is not too hot, as it can burn you and create more surface area on your hands to which the norovirus can cling; 5) don't panic too much, because you have taken every precaution not to get sick!

oh and put the toilet seat down when you flush if you are sick...the viral particles can be aerosolized from the toilet flushing and spread to every surface of your bathroom, and eventually your house x.x

The things the sick people had in common were fries, ketchup and water. Guess it could of been one of those. I think it is too much of a coincidence that everyone got sick at around the same time.

I think it is fair to say that all food poisoning are 'stomach bugs', but not all stomach bugs are food poisoning.

Yeah sounds like a sv* actually. Even if it is from the food, could be noro off the food. :S just be careful with hygeine there's no reason you have to get it. Interesting it's d* in all the people apart from one who got v* is the one who got v* more 'prone' to v*? (ahh shouldn't ask stuff like this haha)
