Thats right, I said it. I much prefer fall and winter to spring and summer and here is why:
The start of the academic year, the feel of a warm electric blanket on a cold late fall/early winter's night, the beauty of Oregon's vibrant greens against the backdrop of a grey sky, the wondrous time when the leaves change, kids coming round to trick or treat on halloween, a thanksgiving day spent with family and friends, christmas! (even atheists enjoy the togetherness of christmas), the beauty of that rare snowfall in the Willamette valley, bundling up and looking awesome in fall and winter clothing, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I am not going to spend my days in fear of a season...Norovirus doesn't just disappear in summer, neither does the flu or colds or any other virus. Hell I got sick for a week and a half in august with the regular old respiratory flu. Hit me like a fucking freight train in the dog days of summer. I had an equal chance of contracting noro at some point during that season, but I wasn't compulsively worrying about the virus lurking around the corner. Why can't I have that philosophy in the fall and winter months? So what, the data says that you are more likely to contract a virus in winter...that could be any number of things. Hell, it could mean that we've all trained ourselves to be more aware of disease in the cold, and its cold outside right now. I mean, I dunno, maybe you are more likely to contract it...but I for one wont let the terror of noro fuck with my extremely healthy love for the fall and winter months. I wont let emet ruin another thing for me.
