Default Is Norovirus still in the house?

On Monday, my uncle who lives with me and my grandfather suddenly had it coming out of both ends. I have been worried about catching it ever since. It also worries me when people say it came on all of a sudden. Do you find when you have norovirus (which is what he had I'm sure) any proceeding symptons that make you think you may vomit or have diarrhea. I remember when I was sick two times my stomach hurt really bad and I didn't feel like eating. My worst fear is being out in public and then suddenly it comes out of both ends.

For me, I get a very distinguishable pain in my upper left stomach area that comes before all of the other symptoms. Sometimes I only get that pain and just don't feel like eating, followed by a fever. Most commonly, I get d a few hours after that pain starts. I've only v'd once in the last 25 years, so I don't really know how I would know if I was going to v. But, if your stomach starts hurting, I would think you'd have enough time to get home.

The last time I had noro, I felt ill for 2-3 hours beforehand. When I say "ill", I mean I felt carsick n (not anxiety n) and food literally repulsed me. The time before that when I had it, it came on much more quickly--within about 30 minutes I'd say--and I went from being hungry and feeling fine to feeling carsick n and v/d for hours. That was about 20 years ago.

As far as it still being in the house--noro CAN remain on surfaces for up to 2 weeks. HOWEVER: Cleaning the restroom, door handles, light switches, sink faucets, etc (anything the sick people may have touched before washing their hands) with bleach solution or spraying with lysol spray will deactivate noro. I am sure that if someone has cleaned since Monday and you have not become ill yet (incubation is 24-48 hours), then you will be okay. Keep washing your hands and try not to worry.
