Unhappy Is this a virus or some sort?

    Hi guys.

I know I haven't been on here for God knows how long, but that's because I have found that I get even more anxious if I come on here during the Winter months.

Anyway, for the last 2 days, I have been feeling really bad. Last night I couldn't sleep because I felt so n* and had fever/chills. I was wrapped in 3 blankets yet I was still shivering like a leaf and felt ridiculously cold. I couldn't even think about eating or drinking as it made the n* worse. I have been having on and off horrible stomach cramps, head banging when I get up, achy limbs, and swollen glands as well.

I'm feeling a little better now, but I am still anxious because I think it's a mild SV*... But surely I would have v* by now or had d*? I'm not sure what I have and don't even know where I caught it from. If I had to guess, I'd assume it's Influenza? Thing is, can it cause stomach aches? Because as far as I know, the SV* causes that, not the common flu.

It might just be anxiety or something, if it was anything major such as SV* you would've have most definitely V* or atleast D* after two days, it would have been one of the first things to happen. It will probably pass pretty soon so I wouldn't worry about it much, hope you're feeling better soon though! (:

Doesn't sound like a sv*, but it does sound a bit viral. I've known of a few people with similar symptoms to yours, one of their doctors called it, 'the flu's ugly cousin', meaning it's not the actual flu but a virus that makes you feel flu-like symptoms. Some have had fevers with it, others do not. None of them v*ed but all were off of food for a day or two. One may have had slight d*, but if she did it wasn't serious. It didn't sound fun. So sorry you have this, I wouldn't worry about v*ing, that's not going to happen. Take it easy this weekend though, just so that by Monday you're back to 100%. Lots of fluids, rest and laying around!

Sounds like plain ol' influenza. People get the flu and have n* and v*. The CDC says this is a common symptom, more common with children than adults, but it's definitely a symptom.

Wow. Thanks for the fast replies guys! I can always count on IES for reassurance. Today, I don't have chills/fever, achy limbs and swollen glands but I still have an on and off stomach ache which doesn't seem to be shifting. I don't feel n* anymore either but I don't know if I should eat something or not? I haven't eaten since around 7 PM last night and don't want to either. I have no appetite whatsoever. I'm drinking plenty of fluids though.

Sounds like now you are hungry. Eating when you feel like this can be terrifying. I am no stranger to not eating for a few days "just to make sure". But if you aren't too scared, eat something bland. Maybe you'll realize you were incredibly hungry. Glad it sounds like you're on the mend.
