    Default Going around work

Ok, I work at a restaurant and it seems like everybody is catching this stomach bug. They say they have it for about 12 hours then they feel fine. I am terrified I am going to catch it. Everytime i go into work it seems like someone else just got over it.

Yeesh, they shouldn't be working in a restaurant for at least 48h after the end of symptoms. No wonder these bugs spread so easily if people are that careless. You should be safe as long as you don't touch your face or eat without washing your hands first (and not touching any surface in between).

I know, its been so busy lately that they can't take off work. I am just so scared I will catch it and if not me then my parents, since it is their restaurant and they are there every day. I haven't been this scared in a while, I don't know what to do.

Well, if everyone practices good hand washing practices, it should be ok. Just make sure to disinfect the bathroom on a regular basis, with diluted bleach, and stress that everyone wash hands properly. Print and post the guidelines for that (http://www.rvis.edu.bh/uploaded/Scho...dwashing_e.gif) , and ask that they close faucets with a paper towel and same for the door so they don't re-contaminate their hands. That should limit the spread. But I thought it was law that employees with an illness of the sort had to wait at least two days after the end of symptoms before working in the food sector. It really is a danger to your clients, more than to you or your parents. And that could be very bad for business if one of your employees contaminates the food or dishes/glassware.

You should be ok, just avoid touching food or eating with unclean utensils.

Bring a Clif Bar or some other high nutrient bar to work with you so you can eat it without touching it or having it get contaminated.

And if you do get it, think about it this way: 12 hours.

Thats it. Then you'll be over it, and you will be fine again, just like they are.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself my friend

AoD is right, they really shouldn't be at work for two or three days after they've been sick. SV are easily spread through contaminated food.
