    Default Crohn's Disease

    Hello,

I wanted to know if anyone on this website has Crohn's Disease. My grandmother had surgery to correct her Crohns, and died of surgical complications. I have read that it may be genetic. I am asking, because I want to know what the symptoms are. I have read much about it, but I want to hear from someone and their story. I have every single symptom, but my GI doctor doesn't think I do. I have had an upper endoscopy but not a lower. If anyone here can contribute their knowledge of Crohn's, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to know if all of my stomach problems are IBS or something more.

Hi Katie, I would encourage you to check out Dr. McDougall's book "Digestive Tune-up" and there's a lot of free information on his website www.drmcdougall.com, you can search "crohn's" and "ibs" and you can even email him directly - he usually responds. Crohn's is an auto-immune disease and as with many auto-immune diseases which are caused or exacerbated by leaky gut syndrome and/or leaky brain, a change in diet often corrects the problem or at the very least makes it much better.
