Default Son was sick with a sv* yesterday, help with clean up please!

My 7 year old was sick with, I assume, a sv* yesterday. I'm in the "waiting period" right now. Anyway, just to do the best I can, I did some cleaning today. I sprayed lysol on all the remotes, and switches and such, I mopped the tile with bleach and bleached the bathroom he was in (mostly, still need to bleach the tub where he showered after he v* on himself). He's back to himself today but I let him stay out of school to prevent other kids from getting sick and he had a field trip today and I didn't think that was a good idea. Anyway, he was watching TV earlier and using the TV remote, should I re sanitize it or am I ok now? Thanks!

You did all the right things in sanitizing and in keeping him out of school/field trips for the day! There's not much else you can do. You can always periodically sanitize the remotes if he still has d*, and make sure to keep the lid closed when you flush the toilet.

As long as he scrubs his hands after going #2 you don't need to continue sanitizing. I keep a spray bottle with a bleach/water mixture in the bathroom and spray down the toilet and sink after they go #2 for about a week after someone's been sick in my house, but that's probably extreme. You're going to be just fine.

So far he hasn't even gone #2 that I'm aware of. Thankfully no d* so far! He did go back to school today. I felt bad sending him because I know your suppose to wait 48 hours after symptoms stopped, it'll be 48 hours later this afternoon but next week is the last week of school and he can't miss any more school, he missed a lot this semester.

if he is ok and it has been 24 - 36 hrs, it is probably totally ok. it sounds like you did a lot of great cleaning and should be ok. just wash blankets in hot water, sheets, etc. also spray the sofa with lysol (just a mist) maybe.

I washed everything he was in contact with that I could, then I ran a blank hot water/bleach cycle in my washing machine and sprayed lysol in my dryer before doing any of my regular laundry. I lysoled sprayed my couch after cleaning up the v* and took my area rug outside and hosed it down and scrubbed it with dish soap and it's still hanging over my fence sun drying. I also bleach mopped my floors and bleached the bathroom. Too much? Maybe but it helps in the meantime to make me feel better.

If your dryer has a sanitizing cycle, it might be enough to run that with towels or bed sheets instead of spraying lysol inside. You have to be careful because if I recall well it contains alcohol, and that mixed with the heat of the dryer is pretty risky, it could catch on fire if you don't let it aerate properly for a long time before starting a cycle.

It does not have a sanitizing cycle but I did let it air out for about 2 hours before I used it and I've used it about 3 times now with no issue. Thank you for the heads up though!!
