    Default How effective is CBT?

I am pretty young (17) and don't think that my emetophobia is nearly as severe as some other people on this website, so I was hoping CBT might be very effective. My mom thinks this fear is ridiculous and thinks getting "the" flu will help me get over it. Because the last few times were miraculous (I'm being sarcastic). I understand that CBT can make me less anxious on a day to day basis, but what happens when I DO get sick? Will I panic and relapse? Or will I finally react like a normal person?

I'm sorry for the rambling, but this is just one phobia for me. And so far, it seems easier (not easy, just easier) to tackle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there. Here is a great link to go to and read and possibly print and give to your mom. http://www.emetophobiahelp.org/fact-sheet.html
CBT therapy can be very effective, and the right therapist and doctors are needed to. I'd give that a read over, and show your mom...
If you try and tell me a phobia is unreal. I dare you to live a day, and feel what I have to feel.
