    Default Old pills?

My allergies were bothering me today, so my father gave me an allergy pill. After I took it, I looked at the bottle and the pills were prescribed in 2000! I've heard it's okay to take expired pills, but is it okay to take pills that are that old?

usually they just lose efficacy, they don't become dangerous. but I would call the pharmacy just to ask

It's a Claritin (from back in the day before they were OTC). Everything I kept said non-gel pills last for decades.

Honestly, I don't think it will cause any harm. I have researched myself and a couple of people said they took pills just as old as the ones yours are and they seemed to be fine.
