Default How often have you disappointed someone due to anxiety/fear?

    Hey,

I ALWAYS give up on things due to anxiet and fear. I very often get so worried and worked up about things that I commit to
and end up cancelling on people all the time. Whether that's with uni or work or my future career or friends or family... the list goes on.
I think part of it is a lack of self confidence. I just want to know if I'm the only one out there who seems to always give up on things
and rarely give stuff a go. I need some positivity thrown my way even though I'm the dill that keeps disappointing people and myself.

    Thanks

I used to be that way. But the older I got and the more people I have talked to about my problems the more understanding people are. Its amazing what you start learning. That a lot of other people have anxiety and phobias some are emet. I don't think the people are as disappointed as much as we are in ourselves. At least for me. Its so easy to have low self esteem and whatever negative talk we do to ourselves we start assuming others are thinking the same. And that's not necessarily the case. I joke about my phobia some and my anxiety. People laugh. And they try to understand. I never expect them to though because as I always say..why should they when the emet and anxious woman herself doesn't understand. And this might seem weird but its true...we all hate being the way we are. But embrace it. It makes us unique. Turn the bad to a positive and learn. I find doing this and I have had anxiety my whole life. I will be forty in April..makes it not so bad. Ive been emet since 16 but I have learned to deal with it for the most part. Yes I fall off the horse sometimes but after a short moment I get back on and keep on riding.

Often. My gf is understanding but even she gets frustrated sometimes. I swear off restaurants from November through April, which limits what I can do with people. If someone was recently sick, I don't go to their house. But I also have anxiety meds on hand for when I'm feeling irrationally scared for no good reason. Those give me the courage to do more things.

I try not to commit to anything with certainty until the day gets really close. Then if I have to cancel, it's not as much of a let down.

All the time but I really try to not let my kid down. Adults rebound. It is really tough.

A LOT. Tons. I am trying to get better about it and realize that I need to stop being so self centered and deal with common, everyday events that happen in life, good and bad. Some days are worse than others and I give into my fear but others I grab the bull by the hors and deal. Thankfully I'm getting better about doing the later.
