So, all of the sv* I have had were only about 12 hours long, or less. I've read that the Norovirus lasts about 24 hours. Did I have the norovirus the past couple of times I've had it and have a strong immune system? Or was it something else?

That's just an estimation, and what do you mean you were only sick 12 hrs, did you mean that was the time frame in which you v* or that's how long you felt crappy for? It depends on the person, some people don't v* and just feel sick for a day or so, some v* a few times over a 24 hr period. Being an emet, you are likely to v* less than the average persons. Some people may disagree with me but I don't think your immune system has much to do with an sv, everything I've read says you have to ingest very few particles to become sick, so I think it has a do more with the virus itself and how you take care of your self when you are sick, not pushing fluids and foods that sort of thing

I have been an emet for twenty years and I don't v less. I usually do it every hour for 12 hours straight.
And it is about injesting the particles but your immune system is then what battles it and fights it. So you may not have as bad of a round as say another person. Your immune system then builds up a tolerance for that specific one and keeps you from getting it again for the next six to nine months. So in my opinion its a bit of both. The actual strain and particles and how your immune system copes with it.
This is the time frame in which I throw up. The most times I have thrown up when having a sv is 3 times, so yes, I guess being an emet can make you v* less
When we get it we NEVER v* for more than 12 hours. My hubby and I only v* once or twice and then it's just bad n* for a few hours. The next day we still don't feel great and then it's uphill from there. My boys v* for about 6 hours and then follow the same pattern. I think the 'estimated time' of the virus is from start of symptoms (feeling yucky) to the end (100% better). I don't think that the average person v*s for 14 hours straight. Actually, I am certain of it.
Like I said when I get a bad stomach virus I v every hour for 12 hours straight. That's why I hate it so much and scares me so much.
When my DH and I get it, he gets sick maybe twice....and I have yet to actually v* with a sv since having kids, I just get really nauseous. Then it's just that run down worn out feeling, body aches, sometimes low fever, and sometimes d*. My girls tend to get sick over a 6-8 hr period, getting sick either every hr or every couple of hrs. They bounce back incredibly quickly from it. It takes me 12-14 hrs before I start feeling that relieving feeling of thirst, actually WANTING to drink something, and just generally starting to feel better. When I get noro, I watch the clock....because it has never lasted longer than 14 hrs for me.

I had a sv* when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I v* every hour or so for about 12 hours straight, no d* and felt tired the next day. The next one I had was when I was about 24, I was 36 weeks pregnant and v* every hour for about 5 hours and had d* at the same time (picture sitting on the toilet with a trash can in your lap, good times, NOT!), then I had one in November 2012, I felt kinda off for a couple of hours, and dry heaved once and instantly felt better (yes it was a sv* because my family all had it too), then the last one I had September 2013, I woke up with a really gurgly intestinal area, and felt kinda strange but not n* and had d* for a few hours about every hour or two and the n* started and about 3 hours later I finally v* just once and it was over, I felt better other than being tired and a little achy. I felt 100% the next day. So they've all been different for me. I didn't' truly become an emet though until i was about 25. So the first 2 sv* I had I wasn't an emet, have no idea if that had anything to do with it or not.
The time in November 1987 I v-ed several times in the night. The next day I didn't v; I just felt awful and was afraid to move much for rear that I'd v again. The day after that I started feeling better. The time in January 2001, I started having d and v-ing in the middle of the night. The worst part lasted a few hours or so. I v-ed for the last time late the following morning and had the last bout of d in the afternoon. So the worst part lasted around 12 hours. I still felt bad and had a fever that evening. I didn't run a fever until after the worst was over. The next day I started feeling better.
