Default V* with an ear infection

I think I have some sort of ear infection, not sure if it's middle ear or outer ear canal. I have a pain like needles in my ear and a crawling sensation. Iv read up on symptoms.., and the v* word showed up!! I have a slight fever and am feeling N* (not sure if that's because Iv read about the v*) what causes it? Is it due to swallowing ear drainage? Or is it because it can cause dizzyness. I'm having a freak out!! Xx

Ive never heard of V with an ear infection. Last time I had one I took some tylenol and it helped the pain, have you taken anything and called a doctor?
If you try and tell me a phobia is unreal. I dare you to live a day, and feel what I have to feel.

iv taken paracetamol, Iv not heard of Tylenol (I'm in the uk, don't think you can get it here) I can't take anything stronger due to other tablets I'm on. The drs are closed now till Monday. If it's due to dizzyness I have some vertigo medication I can take. But I was worried about this: if there is infectious fluid or spores in my ear... Could I swallow them and they cause a gastro problem. As the ear nose and throat are connected, can fluid in the ear drain into my stomach??

I googled ear infections and v* occurs in a third to a half of cases. I just wanted to see if anyone knew the cause of the v* xx

V*ing is common in PEDIATRIC cases of ear infections. Children (especially those who still bottle feed) are MUCH more likely to experience ear infections than adults. You are NOT going to v* from your illness, of that I am certain. Adults don't suffer the same way babies do.

Really!? That would be a big relief. I feel like I can feel liquid going down the back of my throat. It's not sore and my nose is not blocked. Sometimes I feel it come in my mouth (it's not reflux) do you think its cuz I'm over thinking things? Emet is taking over my life at the moment. I don't get any respite from it. I probably sound like a loon!! Xx

You'd don't sound like a loon, you sound like you have anxiety. I don't THINK you're over thinking things, I KNOW it. I also KNOW that you aren't going to v* from this. Do something to take your mind off of things. Can you watch a movie, read a book or take a bath? You're going to be ok!

Iv been watching TV and writing ( may sound silly but my distraction method is to write down what's happening on tv) il feel better and then it hits me again. I can be sitting quiet and all of a sudden want to gag. Like someone is touching the back of my throat. That's an ongoing thing though. It's been happening for years. Iv had a busy few days (it was my bday yesterday) so I'm quite tired. My anxiety is always worse when im tired. Fingers crossed after a good nights sleep I can feel a little better. It's a shame I can't wake up and be emet free!! Would make things so much easier. Xx

Try drinking some hot tea when you feel that. You won't v* from an ear infection. Vertigo could possible make you v* but not an ear infection

I had an annoying case of Eczema in my ear canals that took forever to diagnose and lead to 4 months straight of DOUBLE ear infections. I was in agony, dizzy, etc. I have permanent tinnitus now - BUT NOT ONCE DID I V*. You'll be fine, promise. Until you can get to a Doc , Ibuprofin is best (helps with swelling). Your favorite decongestant (You said you're not in US, here I like Advil Cold and Sinus) will help dry things up as well. Also, I would dampen a papertowel and fold it up in a ziplock baggie, and microwave it for a few seconds so it was JUST as hot as I could stand it, and then hold it against my neck under my ear. It really helps a lot. If you have a heating pad you can do pad, damp rag and just lay on it. Take it easy, read a good book or watch some trashy movies.

    Feel better!

Happy Birthday for the other day!

I agree that it's only really children that v* with ear infections, I remember it happening to me when I had a perforated ear drum at 8 years old. I think children can v* with most infections/anything that causes a high temperature.

Diet coke can help mild non-SV nausea because it contains Phosphoric acid, which is a mild anti-emetic.

You definitely can't swallow the fluid from your ear drum and make yourself unwell- even if you were were to purposefully collect and swallow the ear fluid (what a disgusting thought!) I don't think it would actually cause gastrointestinal symptoms because your body would most likely get rid of the bacteria.
