    Default Food Poisoning Worry

So I was really hungry and my mind was set on some chicken. I took the schwans chicken from my freezer, only to realize that the bad had been open. My mom told me it was fine so I ate it. It didn't smell weird and it tasted fine, but I'm still worried that I could get food poisoning.

Food can be frozen for up to a year without concern of spoilage. I am certain you're fine.

Nope, things stay good in the freezer forever.

Why would it being opened matter?

If you're worried about freezer burn or something I'd say you're fine. Freezer burned food tastes gross but it won't make you sick (I've eaten it plenty of times out of starvation and been fine lol)

Like others said, just the bag being open isnt a big issue in the freezer. the worst that would happen is it would get freezer burned but you would notice - it would be grayish and maybe taste weird (but not spoiled). I am sure my mom never fully closed all our chicken in baggies in the freezer growing up and we survived. She is a great cook too, seriously. My son's waffles and pancakes are in a bag in the box but the bag can't be closed once opened...so I sort of twist it and shove it back in, if you can visualize it. they are always perfectly fine.
