Default Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no.

OK...I'm starting to freak out and I need some input from you guys. I went to meet my bf's parents for the first time this past weekend. His mom had the sv* so she stayed in her room for the most of the time. He has his own place, but we had to sleep at his parent's house that weekend. Of course, I was silently freaking out but couldn't do anything about it. She has this little dog and I pet it and stuff. I think it licked my face. Then I realized shit...what if it licked her?

So we slept there 2 nights and I kept my distance and she kept theirs. She only peeked out for a bit to meet me and talk to me (no direct contact was involved). She basically stayed in her room most of the time she was sick.

We're in a long distance relationship so I haven't seen him since Monday morning. So now I'm back in my home town, it's Wednesday and times goes by...but my bf just told me he was v* all night bc of "food poisoning." He said he thinks its from his omlette he had at this diner last night. He told me he didnt have a fever and right now his temp is 97.1°. He swears he doesn't have the sv* and is just from the food. But now I'M freaking out!! HELPP

did he kiss or hug his mom? he was probably WAY less cautious than you, so he may have a sv. it may also be fp from a dicey diner meal. I don't know. I would just stay away from him for a few days until he feels better.

No he didn't kiss/hug her. But he told me she's better and they went out to dinner last night. So who knows what happened. Like I said, we're in an LDR and I haven't seen him since Monday morn.

Maybe she has anxiety issues too - or emet - and used the stomach flu excuse like most of us do instead of telling the truth about our fears. Regardless, you should be okay. If she really did have a stomach virus, sounds like she "gets it" as evidenced by her staying in her room and keeping her distance. That's more than most people do.

No actually she was sick. And she's a nurse so I'm glad she respected that but I'm still worried nonetheless!!

I guess I'm confused about why you're freaking out. No matter WHAT the cause, you haven't been around them since Monday, it's Thursday, so regardless of the case, you didn't catch anything and are well beyond the incubation period. You're totally safe! So sorry they were sick! What a bummer.

i don't think Syrup meant it badly (if it was taken that way). I agree that you have nothing to fear though. It's been well past the incubation period and you are fine. I would stay away a few days from the bf though. And maybe spray his bathroom and remotes and doorknobs with lysol.

I must be missing something. What is it that you're nervous about? I just wanted to know so that I can better help you. I wasn't trying to be snarky. If you're long distance and it's been since Monday since you've seen him, what is it that you're fearful of or is just that you're upset that someone out there is ill? There's absolutely NO danger. You're not sick nor are you going to be sick. I am 100% sure you're totally fine!

No, I know you weren't being snarky! No worries. I was just nervous because we were both around his mom at some point and have kissed. And the fact that he is sick scared me into thinking I could be sick (if it's not food poisoning).

I can tell you with 100% certainty that a sv* isn't spread through saliva. The last time my oldest was sick he was feeling n* in the car but mistook it for hunger. I bought him a cookie and a water and he LICKED THE ICING off of the cookie which he then gave to his brother to eat. The two of them shared the water and he began v*ing within the hour. A bunch of his classmates were sick that night as well so it was a bug. His brother never caught it. People aren't contagious until they start to show symptoms. He wasn't symptomatic when you were with him and even if he was, you'd have had to EAT the particles. Kissing spreads nothing. You are TOTALLY, COMPLETELY fine!!!!

I hope not...although I thought it was spread through any bodily fluid. Thanks for the reassurance tho.

Nope, it's completely fecal-oral. You have to EAT it. GROSS!!!!! People catch it because they don't wash their hands well enough and then spread it.

I think it can be spread through saliva after but not before someone has thrown-up because they'll have viral particles from the v* in their mouths.

I don't think you're at risk though because you didn't have any contact with your boyfriend'a mum.
