Just wondering if anyone out there has been trying to seek help for
this phobia, and whether or not a psych has helped. If so, what
types of techniques have they been using? Thanks!!!

i went to a psychiatrist for my anxiety and depression which of course i knew was linked wit my emetophobia. but after explaining that to her and other life issues iv had, she completely ignored this phobia and concentrated on the other things, proly becuase emet seemed like such a ridiculous thing to her... she said the usual, 'well no one likes vomit or vomiting' GRRRR!!. i even gave her the print out from this site.. she was useless and so misunderstanding... i felt so angry... so i stopped going... i did cognitive behaviour therapy wit her and it helps the anxiety but not the phobia... if anyone has found someone who helped them PLEASE let us know how they did it!!! my anger towards the ignorance of these therapists towards this has caused me to change unis, move town and do a psychology degree so i can specialise in phobias just so i can help others wit this and other phobias... arrrrrgghhhhh<!--

    Stef,

I totally agree with you! We need a specialist! I wish they
would forward you to someone who knew what to do with you....instead of
keeping you around and beating around the bush. Jeeeesh!
