Hey Everyone,

I am going to Las Vegas on friday and I am terrified! I am driving there, because I will not get on a plane. (since 88) So I am driving 9 hours to get there! I am scared about feeling sick in the car. But also about all the millions of germs that are all over the casinos! And the food there as well! How can I calm down enough to just relax and have a good time? I have my purell, and I am hoping that will be enough. I just want to have fun!! Help..

Well- I have rarely met anyone who got motion sick while they were driving, even my mom, who gets sick on the ski lift. I get really bad motionsickness, yet managed to drive from California to Vancouver to Ottawa (a week and a half in a Uhaul) without throwing up once. I find that highway driving is usually easier on the stomach- that and cranking the air, drinking soda and eating licorice. BTW- altoids now make Ginger-flavoured mints, which are always good to settle the stomach.

The good thing is that if you are driving, if you're not feeling well you can always pull over to a rest stop until you feel better.

As for vegas.....have fun and enjoy it! Let yourself, just for a few days, enjoy the lights and the sounds. Use the Purell, and please don't let your anxiousness take over the weekend.

I've heard your brain won't let you v* if you're driving. It physically won't happen.

Least that's what I've heard.

Just relax, wash hands regularly, be careful with what you eat, and you
will be fine. Las Vegas is an adult orientated place, right? More
adults than kids, anyway. And we all know how bad kids are at
spreading germs... Las Vegas won't be like a theme park. Have fun.

Thank you for your support and reassurance guys.. I really appreciate it! I think I am more afraid of coming down with something or getting food poisoning while on the drive. I hate the thought of not being able to be somewhere comfortable if I was sick. Which is kind of stupid, because I havent been sick in 23 years.. But you know how the fear works. Not logical at all.

I will try and get my mind calmed down before I go. Heh, maybe I will win a bunch of money and it will take my mind off it!

I've been to Vegas twice, and had so much fun!! Once you are there, you won't be worried, because there is so much to see. Just keep your hands clean, and watch what you eat, although, I don't think that is too much of an issue, they are very careful with food there. Just enjoy!!!!

I went to Las Vegas once - when I was a child. I enjoyed it (even
though I was too young to go on any of the casino machines) but my
over-riding memory of it was that it was so dang hot that the soles of
me flip-flops melted and I left rubbery imprints all over the carpets in
Circus Circus!

Oh come on, I'm British - we wear flip-flops on holiday! Even melty
ones!!!

So if you happen to visit Circus Circus, check the carpets - it'll remind
you of me!!!!!

I went to Vegas in October, and survived with no v'ing at all. I did see a couple things that I'd rather not have seen, but I didn't get too bothered. After all, Vegas is probably the best place in the USA for people to get trashed in. I ate at buffets and sit down restaurants and was fine every time. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

Hee.. you guys are cracking me up! Thanks for the helping me look at the fun side of it. I would hate to ruin a fun trip by worrying.

I am staying at the Imperial Palace, it was a friends choice. So hopefully it is a little bit nice! I will drop by Circus Circus and think of you Polly! I wear flip flops on vacation too, so dont feel strange. Of course I think it will be too cold this time.

Thanks for everything. I will write when I get back. Hopefully with no bad stories.

Kim, I stayed at Imperial Palace too. Ate from the buffet, Burger Palace, Pizza Palace and the Tea House (or whatever it's called). They're all okay, so you'll have plenty of food to choose from. The only thing I didn't like about Imperial Palace is that it was so darn confusing. There are about 400 different elevators, and they all go to different places. We got lost more than once! Have a great time!

I just went to Vegas for the first time a few weeks ago. My husband and I had a great time. I didn't even think about my emet. Of course, I made sure I either washed my hands or used purell before eating, but other than that, I didn't even think about emet.
