Default staying with future inlaws and he's constantly v!

My fiance is on the road for work all but six weeks a year. I am living with his parents right now to save money while going to school. His dad had gastric bypass surgery years ago and literally v*s daily. Once in a while, he will have a day where he just does it all day and they're all convinced he has some virus every time and every time I have anxiety attacks and hate staying here. Yesterday this happened and I'm terrified because they were out shopping the day before, what if they picked up a bug then? But she hasn't been sick yet.... and he was feeling better today. Am I safe? SV is going around here like crazy right now! My stomach is in bloated knots right now and I'm so scared. They're retired so they're always here. I do love them, they're very good to me, but I hate staying here like this because he's always sick!

My mom had weight loss surgery. Let me explain it to you.

first, you cannot catch it. If he had the surgey that long ago and is still getting sick, it means he is eating too much. (Are you sure it was full on gastric bypass or was it the lapband?) basically he is overfilling his stomach and because it's half the size it used to be before surgery, there's no room for error, as it were. He need to stick to his very small portions and non acidic foods otherwise he'll never stop continually getting sick

although I highly recommend he make an appointment with the dr that did his surgery to make sure an issue hasn't developed as a result of the surgery

Yes, I have friends who've had the surgery as well and they v* - A LOT! Any time they eat anything fried, too sweet or if they overeat (which isn't a lot of food!) they get really, really sick. Doubtful that he caught a bug, being 'out and about' doesn't give you a virus. If he wasn't in close contact with a sick individual it's more than unlikely that he picked anything up. Instead of looking at your living situation as 'bad' because of his condition, look at it as a learning/growing experience for you! This could seriously help you overcome your phobia!

Agreed. My mom had her lapband surgery 12 years ago and she STILL gets sick if she eats too much, or too fast, or something too spicy.... or even if she eats after 7pm.

I lived with her when she had her surgery (i moved back home to help take care of my brother aftet our father died) and she was sick CONSTANTLY. she was always running to the bathroom in the middle of eating.

The surgery is desgned to change the way you eat and how much you can eat, thus essentially forcing you to lose weight. Ive never ben fond of other people Being sick, only if its something i can catch, so it wasnt so bad for me.
