Default OT- Any women here who have IUDs?

I stopped taking the pill bc it elevated my BP. My husband and I are tired of condoms but I've been putting off getting an IUD because I'm scared of the pain during and after insertion. I'm worried it will make me dizzy or nauseous. I don't know of anyone personally who's had one and of course the only things I read online are all horror stories.

Anyone here have any wisdom to impart? I can handle the truth....

I have a Paragard IUD. I love it, I've had it for years, but I will tell you the day of insertion SUCKS. be sure to take that day (and maybe the next day) off work. the pain is pretty intense. But it's only a day or two, again its completely worth it.

A few years ago I was suspose to get an IUD put in and I backed out on the day of the appointment, I was too scared. My hubby ended up getting a vasectomy so it worked out.

I got the Mirena IUD about a year and a half ago but recently got it removed. Insertion was pretty painful, take some ibuprofen beforehand. It won't make you sick though. I got it removed because it ended up not working for me, my body just never quite adjusted. It never ever made me feel n* or v* though. Good luck!

I had a mirena I'd for 2 years. The insertion sucks, but other than that, it's okay. No nausea or dizziness for me

I have an appointment on Tuesday to.get mine done. I've researched it and for the copper IUD the biggest side effect was cramps and heavy periods. And pain on the day of insertion. I haven't read anything about n* though.
I also asked a similar question a while ago on here. From what I remember there was some pretty positive answers =)

Good luck!! Be sure to take a painkiller BEFORE the procedure. By the time its over you will be hurting to much for it to work. Take it before and you will be fine. Wish my doctor had told me this, could've saved me a lot of suffering when I had mine put in :/ He was a crappy doctor though. My period was only heavy for the first 3 months or so after I had it put in, then things evened themselves out. I still get awful cramps but I have endometriosis so it's more likely that than the IUD. You'll be fine
