    Default Parents help!

I'm sure someone has posted this before, but for those with kids- how do you get through it when one, or multiple kids are sick?

When I had only one child, I went through the whole range of anxiety, fear, etc. but within about two or three days of my daughter being healthy again I was relatively back to normal. Even then, those two to three days felt like a lifetime and it was all-consuming.

Now when one gets sick, I have anxiety for several weeks that my other one will get sick and take crazy precautions to avoid it. Having this all-consuming anxiety went from a few days to now several weeks.

It really takes a mental /physical toll as I'm sure you all know too well.

Just curious how everyone else copes.

Honestly, it's tough, but I've gotten better over the last year. Once the sick person is well I have them shower and then bleach down any areas that they were sick. I've stopped the whole following them around stuff because the truth is that once everything is cleaned up, they are showered and dressed the chances of any remaining 'particles' is really very slim. Remember that MOST families don't spread the bug through the household and they certainly don't go through the cleaning regime that we do! For the following week I do help the sick person wash hands well and then bleach/water spray the flusher and sink handles. I remind myself that all of the germs are taken care of and I move on. Plan activities that take you away from the house and FORCE yourself to be in the moment. Not 10 minutes from now, not the next night, NOW. ALL of our anxiety is anticipatory. So, we feel we can handle what's happening right this moment (because we can) but are always thinking about the next. You CAN handle whatever happens. You don't believe it, but you can. You've done it before you can do it again. You're much stronger than you give yourself credit for. Believe in yourself and in your abilities. You'e got this!

    Thanks for the support :-)

I'm still having trouble sleeping and have anxiety but it's improved since the first night. I can't bleach my leather couch or my floor which is where most of this occurred so this adds to the anxiety. Not having "control" over killing any virus she may have had. I feel like it's just sitting there waiting for us to touch it.

I wish they would come out with a vaccine or cleaner that kills noro that won't damage my stuff.
