My mum is a nurse, and recently, she had an infection control
training day update (they get these every once in a while). The
guy giving the talk told them that one of the BIGGEST causes of stomach
bugs & problems are office water coolers. The free-standing
self-chilling ones. Apparently, the water isn't chilled to the
right temperature to keep it free from bacteria (or it just gets
chilled on the way out of the dispenser, and is kept in the barrel
warm) and they breed germs like crazy.
Anyway, thought I'd post this NOT to worry people, but to let them know
that drinking from them probably isn't the best idea! I'm so glad she
told me - now I'm warned.
