Hey - I am not really a newbie because I was a member a few years ago and I can't find my username/ password and stuff. The site has really changed and I'm glad to see people being more active.

This is my problem... my mouth ALWAYS waters (or so it seems). When my mouth waters, it automatically makes me feel nauseated. I'm an emetophobe to the extreme and I feel like I'm going nuts! To make matters worse, I'm getting over a bad infection that I have been fighting for the last 8 weeks (sinuses and lungs).

Anyone else have this problem and if so, how do you deal with it?

I have this problem because of my sinuses draining. I have to take medication 2X daily for it. I take Dallergy and it helps like you wouldn't believe.

I don't know much about anything. I would guess it's got something to do with your sinuses draining though.

    Hi teacher-

I know that when my sinuses are infected, I salivate like a fat kid looking at a hunk of chocolate cake. And it grosses me out too, especially when I have to go to the bathroom to spit because I can't bear to swallow it.

My sinus infections only last about a week or two tops though....can't imagine how it must feel to have it for a prolonged period of time! You may want to inquire with a doctor, and maybe something like Shiva is on will work for you

Thank you everyone for your reply. Yes, I have bad sinus problems in addition to the infection going on - which could easily be the cause. I had never considered that as a possiblity because I sinus problems are a constant in my life

My sinus problems are really s***ty, too. I have tried everything short of surgery. I hear that most times surgery doesn't even correct it. I sometimes irrigate my sinuses when I have time. Also, there is a nasal spray called astilin that helps a lot along with my Dallergy. Dallergy has a third drying agent in it other than a decongestant and antihisthamine, this is the ingredient that makes the difference. I have been trying to go off of this medication because it's not able to be taken during pregnancy and I plan on getting pregnant in a year or so... I can't do it. I get all watery like you explained and after a few weeks I am so nausiated that I can't hardly stand up. Have you been tested for allergies? Maybe shots will help? I have no allergies, just messed up festering sinus cavities.. yuk. Anyway.. good luck with that...

Oh.. there are 2 alternative solutions I am looking into. Theory one is that a yeast based bacteria (candida) is responsible for stomach problems as well as sinus issues and body aches. To get rid of this, you must not eat yeast products and take probiotics. I try and try, but I can't get with this one

Another is estrogen dominance.. It causes sinus and allergy symptoms. I had my hormones tested and found that I had no progesterone. So now I am using the progesterone cream and trying not to eat yeast or sugar and I am able to only take my allergy meds about 2X a week.

    Good luck.

My mouth gets watery sometimes too and it flips me out of course. I usually chew some gum then it's watery but can be explained by the gum lol. Ahh the lies we tell ourselves lol. Seriously tho there's a milllion reasons a mouth can water and only 1 of them is v*ing and of course that's the one we all think of first. But if you have had this for a while and don't get sick than it's a pretty safe bet you won't.

Stef, sorry no on replied to you. I hope this helps you as well!

I get it when I'm hungry - or at least when I can rationalize to myself that I SHOULD BE hungry. I don't really know what being hungry feels like either.

I do have severe allergies and my stress levels have been high. I just hate how *normal people* associate watery mouth with V*. It scares me.

I am a "food porn" addict - meaning I collect pictures of food off of the internet. This might sound weird, but it is something random and comforting that I do for myself. I love pictures of food, especially pretty ones. I'm also into photography and you would be amazed as to what types of amazing pictures are out there of food!

When I look at these beautiful pictures of food that I cannot eat or I'm too scared to eat, my mouth wants to start dripping. To make matters worse, my screensaver on my comp is filled with these amazing pics!

I thought I was the only person that did this! I LOVE food- a good meal for me is right on par with the satisfaction you receive from good sex. I have recently lost a great deal of weight- so for me collecting pictures of food (magazines, internet, taking pictures myself) allows me to get satisfaction from food without actually eating it.

When I move into an apartment bigger than my parent's closet, I plan on using food photography to decorate my kitchen. I realized that when light hits a chocolate cake a certain way, the icing can actually glisten- and don't get me started on sushi and shadowing

Oh my goodness! I thought I was the only emet who did that!!! I have serious eating problems that have developed as a result of my emet (I am physically afraid of food sometimes, among other food related issues!). I know that food porn is often associated with eating disorders and that is actually where I pickedup the idea from :::blushes:::

I love pictures of food and it makes me happy to be surrounded by the pictures. The actual food, scares the you know what out of me! Now I do hoard food, in addition to collecting pics. I have lots of candy in my bedroom that I eat slowly and I love to be surrounded by food and then not eat it. This might also be eating disorder related, but I know it has a lot to do with my emet too.
