Hi, i'm a new member... just joined today. I've been afraid of V*ing
since forever... the last time i actually ever did was when i was 12
and just started my period. I'm 18 now. I also have Generalized Anxiety
Disorder, which is actually getting better, but everytime i am around
someone who has been v*ing or something, i get panic attacks.

i just started taking birth control pills yesterday, and i already feel
n*. i spent all last night trying not to v*. is there anyone who can
help me with some form of remedy that has worked for them to prevent
feeling n*?

You could try some travel sickness tablets, whatever is available. My doctor said to take them if you feel nausea. Not sure what's out there in the US. Someone here mentioned Gravol???

That's one of the reasons I quit taking bcp's - they made me n*. Some
things you can do to help feel better when you feel n*: drink some
gingerale or take ginger capsules, get some fresh air, do some
relaxation exercises. I know it sounds odd, but try to snack on some
crackers or something bland, that often works. There are some things
called SeaBands (you can buy them at Walgreens) - you wear them on
your wrists and they put pressure on a pressure point that really helps
take away n*. Also, I try to do some deep breathing and tell myself
something comforting -- "I'm not really ill, it's just xxxxxx that's making
me feel this way, I'm fine, I just need to relax". Then I'll start to sing a
song, any song will usually do, and that takes my mind off of it enough,
and before I know it I feel better.

the best thing to do is take the birth control at night, so all nausea and uncomfort will pass in your sleep

hope you're feeling better.

There are other forms of birth control that don't make you as nausated. I went on the Depo shot because I needed the hormone control, but didn't want to be taking pills that would make me nausated. My only caution to give you about the shot is let your doc know about you GAD because the first few weeks on the shot made me crawl up the walls in terms of anxiety, but then I was fine. No nausea and my migraines went bye-bye Little spotting and very little discomfort overall --- eventually your period might go away completely, but the shot isn't for someone who wants to get pregnant within a year of stopping it... so please know that in advance too.
I\'m always a shade of purple...

I've found that birth control pills with higher levels of testosterone and lower levels of estrogen work better and cause less of those icky feelings. The one I was on was called Lo-Ovral (or Cryselle is the generic version). I recently went off the BCP to get pregnant. Otherwise I had no problems with it. The other pills made me very anxious and depressed and really killed the sex drive, thus defeating the purpose!

hmm... well, i'm only 18 and i don't really plan on getting pregnant
anytime soon! lol maybe i'll look into this shot. but lately, i've
mostly just been feeling a heartburning feeling from the pill, and my
appetite has almost gone completely away, which isn't good...

This forum is really helpful! i'm glad i joined! thank you all for your
help, it's good to know there are others out there besides me who will
stop at nothing to prevent this fear...
