Good evening. I was wondering for those of you who have had a s/v how did your stomach feel at the time of the virus? Did it hurt? Were you sick to it? Were you just nauseous? Or did something else trigger the nausea, perhaps dizziness, light headedness, etc? I recall many people complaining about their stomach hurting soo bad but I get a little confused on what they consider hurt. Honestly I classify hurt, as in a pain, and sick in the stomach totally two different things. I have been sick to the stomach many many times but I can honestly say my stomach never hurt. Does everyone else know the difference? Or when people say their stomachs hurt do they mean they are sick to it? I was just wondering because I never had a stomach ache before and I was curious to know if anyone classifies them as two different things as I do? I can remember of the last 3 s/v's that I have had in the last 10 years (Thankfully I didn't v* from one of them) I can recall the one 10 years ago this Valentines Day (freaking out) that I was sooo sick to the stomach. Then the one I had about almost 2 years ago my stomach didn't even bother me I was just extremely and I mean extremely nauseous (miracle I didn't v*) I was just real real lightheaded and had d* the day following and was extremely weak. Then the one I had last year I just had d* and wasn't nauseous at all. Is this because there are different strands of s/v's and the symptoms vary? So my question is, What were your symptoms when you had a s/v? What triggered the nausea?

The last one I had (knock wood) a year ago, I felt a little funny that evening, kind of like I was hungry, but then I started with the d*. No cramping, though. In the middle of the night I had 3-4 bouts of cold sweats/n* where a non-emet would have v*. I just had uncontrollable d* all night without cramps. Then the nextmorning I had a wicked, I mean wicked, headache. I felt better that evening.

The time before, around late afternoon I started feeling queasy, where I just felt yuck and smells were gross. I remember my dh made saurkraut for dinner that night and I cannot stand to smell it anymore. Anyway, later that night, around 9 pm, I started with the d* and I had the cramping. TERRIBLE stomach cramping. I thought at first it was food poisoning but I hadn't really eaten anything that day and then the rest of my family came down with it over the weekend. I felt n* mostly just from the cramping, but that went away after an hour or two and then I just felt weak and kept having the d*.

The time before that, I just had the d* and felt kind of weak, but no "real" stomachache.

So, yes, I think different sv's have different characteristics. During my last bout, I remember everyone saying the big characteristic with it was the headache (I work at a nursing home and that's where I picked it up, we had a mini-epidemic).

The only common thing with my last few sv's was that I REFUSED to v*

I hear that mommyof3. With my last 3-4 I refused myself also. Two of the times I didn't feel nauseous however. But the one I can remember I had almost 10 years ago I should have v*. I was sooo sick, but I refused.
