I am so nausated and feeling miserable. I have also been sick with some cold/ upper-respiratory illness, so I have not been wearing my glasses at all lately (yes, I MORE THAN need them!). I got new glasses last week and have been too scared to start wearing them and I don't usually wear ANYTHING when I'm sick.

I think my nausea, headaches, and migraines have been caused by me NOT WEARING my glasses lately - but I'm not sure. I have had sinus problems and just haven't been feeling good. I am so queezy and my stomach will not stop hurting. I have had a low grade fever, sore throat, and my acid reflux has been bad on top of the headaches.

My question: Could my symptoms be caused by me not wearing glasses at all? Might my symptoms worsen when I attempt to get used to my new glasses? I'm scared, so I'm not doing anything (and acting like an idiot meanwhile!).

I am thinking about putting on my old glasses and then start my new glasses in a day or two. I just don't know... I am tired of the headaches, but I don't feel good and I never wear my glasses when I'm sick.
I\'m always a shade of purple...

I think not wearing your glasses probably does not help at all. I have to wear mine at all timesas I can not see a thing without them. I know how you feel about getting used to new glasses. A couple of years ago I had new glasses and started suffering really badly with headaches, dizzy spells and n*. I had endless blood tests and was given tablets for vertigo but the problem remained. Six months later when I had my eye test the optician told me the lenses had been put in at the wrong angle and after getting my next pair the n* and dizzy spells disappeared, I should think not wearing your glasses would have similar effects to me wearing the wrong glasses. I really do not think wearing your new glasses will make your symptoms worse. I think you should maybe try and see if you feel any better. I hope you feel better soon!

I need to wear my glasses all the time and my astigmastism doubled with my new script. I put on my new glasses just a few minutes ago because I figure "I can't feel much worse than I already do".

I just hate adjusting to new glasses. They hurt and the nausea is the worst... The clinic said my new pairs might cause me some trouble because of the script jump, so I'm really edgy. Bottom line = I honestly cannot function effectively without glasses, no matter what I think. I can't even see the computer screen or the TV without them.

It looks like you will have to wear them. It is horrible when you have to get used to new ones. My eyes change regularly and it is hard to adjust to different glasses. It must be especially hard for you at the moment as you have been feeling so bad at the moment. I hope you soon get used to your new glasses. Good luck!

Interesting that this popped up--not that you have to wear glasses but my little sister just recently got glasses about two weeks ago and she's been feeling constantly sick and dizzy as well as headaches. I was thinking of asking about that lol..well anyway, enough about my sister, I dont think that your glasses can cause that because you mentioned a low grade fever. But I do too feel kind of sick and uneasy when I have new glasses. I think you should wear your old ones until you get better though =] Because I too cannot do anything without my glasses. I'd bump into things lol. I hope you get better though!

    Purple,

You should wear your glasses. At the very least, wear your old ones and wear your new ones only when you're sure you're comfortable with them. Always be careful about a prescription where your astigmatism rotates suddenly. They might be overcorrected.

When in doubt, only do it until you need glasses.

Youre headaches are definitely caused by not wearing your glasses. Without them, your eyes have to strain to see anything!
