I got up this morning and promised myself no fear, no worries, no emet today because it's my 22nd birthday. I would relax and have fun. So I took my son to daycare and went to work, and then about 30 minutes later the daycare called and said my son just threw up. I was trembling when I went to get him. So I picked him up and he was playing, and the teacher said he was playing when he v* too. He doesn't act sick...but I'm still so scared! I was afraid he would v* in the car on the way home because he got really quiet for about 5 mintues and just looked out the window. He's had a few sips of cranberry juice since then, and he hasn't v* anymore since that first time about 2 hours ago.

What do I do? This is the first time I've been alone with him when he's v*, usually my mom's here but today she's at work until 7 tonight. Should I give him something to eat? Should I take him to the dr? Give him fluids only? He really does act fine, he's looking out the window at the dog and barking at her and playing. My bf is taking me out tonight for my birthday and I'm afraid if he really is sick I won't be able to enjoy it because I'll be so panicked. My mom got a sv 2 years ago on my birthday and I couldn't eat the whole day. What's the deal with my birthday??!!

I swear, I think I have a sixth sense about v*. I knew someone was going to v* today. Yesterday my bf and I went to eat at a restaurant I haven't been to in a while because the last time Jackson (my son)ate there he caught a sv the next day. So I was eating there(my son wasn't with us) and I thought "Now someobody's going to get sick because I came here." Silly, I know. Then last night in church we were talking about people who we needed to pray for and one guy said a lot of his workers were out with sv, and then a lady sitting next to me said she v* all day Sunday! It took everything I had to not get up and move. So the sv is hitting my town now. I KNEW someone was going to v* today.

I just remembered, my son gave me a big slobbery kiss on the mouth about an hour before he v* this morning. Great.

No food or water for one hour after v*, this may cause v* again.
After one hour clear liquids are good, sprite, or pedialyte. Foods
-use the B.R.A.T. diet- Banannas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. That
is the golden rule in my pediatric/ toddler book!

We went through this is November with my son who V*'d the entire day, every hour for 9 hours. He would sleep in between and acted very poorly. When I did call the Dr.'s office they told me after he was V* free for 1 hour, give him tablespoons of Gatorade since most kids don't like pedialyte, but if yours will do pedialyte it;s good. We did 1 tablespoon every 10 minutes and if no V*, after one hour he could have an ounce. Only after 6 hours of no V* were we told to try foods and that was the BRAT diet. He did fine and was better the next day and absolutely fine the day after that. We were all lucky to not get it from him, but I did wash my hands like a maniac and I remember how sad it was to watch him just lie there so sad and sick.

I think your son is fine since he is acting fine, but just incase, keep the above info handy since it did work great for us.

it doesnt sound like he's sick to me. He may have just had too big of a lunch, or jumped around too much after eating. If he seems happy and himself, I wouldnt worry too much. Just keep him quiet for the rest of the day and keep your fingers crossed!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

It sounds like your son isn't sick with a sv. Maybe he ate or drank to much at daycare, if he is playing and acting fine, just give him something small to eat and see how it goes. I'm sure its nothing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! How is your son now?? Let us know, I know what you're going through--I have a 6th sense about v*, too!! How weird. 2 weeks ago when Haley got sick, I put a blanket under her head when I put her to bed because I was thinking, "she's going to throw up in bed tonight." I don't know what made me think that or put the blanket under her, but thank goodness I did, because my intuition was right!!!

Maybe get some Gatorade or Pedialyte for your little boy to start off with, that's what I always do before I feed the kids after they v*.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY FALON!

You know, the same thing happened to me on my borthday in November - both my kids were throwing up - one of them from 1am until 8am - wiped my birthday out completely.

If it was a SV then you would expect him to be flat and v* more frequently. Both my kids have, on occasion, just thrown up - once and nothing more. Who knows why?

Hope he's better and well done on coping with all this.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!

My son is fine, just v* that one time and he played all day. Around 1:00 he started asking for some "bite bites" so he ate some chicken nuggets and was fine. I know he's not sick because he has been a little demon today...he poured liquid foundation makeup all over the seat of a chair in my bedroom and smeared it all over the place, then when I put him in time-out he kept getting back up and running around. He's lucky I have such a good sense of humor because that chair is ruined! Anyway, he's been asleep since 3:00, so about a 4 hour nap!

My bf was trying to comfort me during my "freak-out" about the v*...he said that he has done that before. Woke up, felt nauseous, v*, then was fine all day. I asked him, "were you pregnant?" lol. Anyway, thanks guys! I guess kids just v* sometimes, no illness required.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Glad your your son is better.

I would put a sheet underneath him and on the floor so if it happened just throw it in the garbage.
