I really have a hard time figuring out what anxiety is. Yesterday, my best friend who works in a hospital told me that she wasn't feeling good earlier this week (sunday and monday). She had d* and was n*, and tired. Ever since then, I have been freaking out. I was with her for a while yesterday now I'm afraid that maybe she is sick today, and what if I catch it. My stomach feels like it's in knots (not cramps), I'm afraid to eat, I sometimes feel lightheaded, I have g*s(so embarassing, but I don't really know if it's a symptom of anxiety), and I can't keep concentration on anything but this stupid phobia. Everyone keeps asking me what's wrong, and I say nothing I'm fine. I just need to talk to people who understand me right now, and that's you!!!! Sorry so long, but I feel like I'm falling apart.

    Kellybean,

Those are definitely symptoms of anxiety. I am unfortunately very familiar with anxiety and its symptoms. It is really hard to believe that anxiety can cause all of the symptoms that is does. You will not catch what your friend has if she is sick today. She didn't get sick while you were with her and it is not contagious until symptoms begin. The best thing to do is try to eat something small like crackers. Then try to relax by taking a bath or watching tv or something. I know exactly how you feel. I go through it more than I can say. YOU ARE FINE!!! Now go try to relax.

U r fine. It's anxiety. I've been having bad gas, stomach cramps, running to the bathroom, no appetite b/c I'm nervous/anxious about my new job on Monday. Anxiety seriously makes a person feel like they are really sick. The best thing to do is to relax. Watching TV helps a lot and so does reading.

Yes it is anxiety, which I think everyone on this forum can relate to in one form or another!

I hope your friend is feeling better now, and I'm sure you didn't catch anything.. they may have been symtoms of stress and tiredness, very common for hospital workers so I really wouldn't imagine it would be anything infectious..

TV really does help though, or reading or putting on one of your favourite CD's.. I find the TV works wonders, also try nibble on something small like toast or as mentioned above crackers..

    Take care and no worries

I have the same problem, trying to decide if my butterfly, n* feeling is anxiety or the real thing. You'd think I would know by now after 20+ years. But it seems to feel different at different times and depending on what I ate. 9 times out of 10 it is anxiety. It is such a drain on me.!!!

it is such a strain. a very large strain. and you'd think you COULD learn.. but each time i swear it feels DIFFERENT. i am definitely with you andee!

Anxiety symptoms I get: rapid heartbeat and nervousness (every morning or mosts), sweaty palms, difficult swallowing, feelings of hot and cold, lightheadedness, not nausea, but upset/uncomfortable stomach, headaches, stomach cramps, the runs, no appetite, I get irritable. My stomach's been feeling so yucky, but of course, I keep eating things that makes it worse. It's b/c of a job. Watching tv and reading is the best for it. In the mornings, my IBS will tend to act up more, so I usually read a magazine until it subsides. Anxiety sucks, but we will live.

Thank you all for your responses. I'm a relieved that anxiety causes all of these sypmtoms, but it's so hard to distinguish between anxiety or something else which makes me nervous.

Princessmel, good luck with your job on Monday, I'm sure you will do great!! Starting a new job is usually only nerve-racking on the first day. You'll feel better once it's over.

Thanks Kellybean. The only reason I've been so nervous about it is b/c the last attorney I worked for was such an ass. Going there seriously made me ill. I would have the runs in the morning, I wouldn't eat, and as soon as I got home, I went to bed. I should have just quit. It is hard sometimes to distinguish anxiety from being sick.
