Here is my latest dilemma, my mother in law watched my girls for a little while yesterday afternoon so I could get my hair done, when I came to pick them up, she started telling me about all of the people from her work (she works in a SMALL office of about 10 people) who called in this week because of the stomach bug, and how she hoped she wasn't going to get it! Well, she is supposed to take my girls to the movies this afternoon and then they are supposed to spend the night at her house. I ordinarily wouldn't give this that much thought except that I have booked their birthday party for Monday at Build A Bear, and with the past track record of my children and their birthdays & related parties--I am just convinced in my head that my mother in law is going to get sick while they are ate her house and that they are both going to get it, which, of course is my worst nightmare on it's own, but that this will also ruin our fun filled afternoon of partying on Monday!!! (Not to mention that I would lose my $50 deposit on the party if I have to cancel) I know, I am being ridiculous and paranoid but I had to get it off my chest!!

maybe you could say, well I'm really concerned about you getting sick and getting my kids sick right before their birthday party. I mean that would make sense, I wouldn't let my kids go somewhere I thought thye may get sick right before their party, my mom wouldn't have let me go and she's not an emet. She would have just said that she didn't want me to get sick because she wanted me to be able to enjoymy ownbirthday party.

Donna, keep them at home with you. Then you know that they are ok. You will be so annoyed with yourself if you send them and then she gets sick. At least with them at home you can keep your fingers crossed for a good party.

Donna...I know how you feel and I am with everyone else on this. Knowing that your MIL does not really wash hands so well either, that would make me even more worried about leaving the kids. I am sure everything would be fine, but why add the extra worry and this way, you can at least know that you did everything to protect the kids so they would have a great party. Normally, I would say that kids are exposed at any place you go, but I do think that since the party is so important and your MIL doesn't wash hands like we all do, I would keep them home.

Ditto on the children staying at your home tonight. You have too much at stake with the birthday party.
