I had a couple of people ask me about my pregnancy on another thread, so I thought I would just start a new one.

I am now 25 weeks, due July 17 and have gained 25 pounds! Actually, I am fine with the 25 pounds because I started out so small (97 pounds due to emetophobia) so I am hoping to keep some of what I gain permanently. So far things are going pretty well.I am starting to get more and more backaches, I am more and more uncomfortable everyday, I can't get up off the couch very well anymore. It makes me laugh because it's not like I'm THAT big, but considering I have gained 25% of my prepregnancy weight in my belly it really throws off my center of gravity!

I go in for my diabetes test in two weeks. I am a little nervous about that because I am so addicted to sweets - I was even before I got pregnant. Hopefully that turns out okay! I am starting to get really anxious. I am still going to the doctor only every 4 weeks. I can't wait until it jumps to every two weeks. Then I will feel like time is actually going a little faster.

How are all the other moms-to-be doing?

well I hope you aren't diabetic because that would not be fun! It
sounds liek everything is going well otherwise though. I am not
pregnant, but for some reason am really looking forward to being
    pregnant in the future!

This is my advice for the GTT (glucose tolerance test) Drink the orange flavored drink. My Ob told me he tried the coke flavored one himself and it made him queasy. I never had any problems with mine. I had it with all three of my pregnancies and never once felt sick from it.

Im glad everything is going so well and I am glad to hear you guys are moving into a house!!!!

Good luck with your diabetes test. Even if you do have GD don't be too
upset. From what I hear it's controlable and sometimes goes away after
you have your baby and your hormones return to your pre-pregnancy state.

    Keep us posted!

I heard the lemon-lime isn't bad either. It just tastes like sweeter Sprite. I think I will go with either the lemon-lime or the orange. I'm also told, though, that it is best to drink it really cold. I'm not sure how they will give it to me since I get it right before I have to drink it. I just hope it goes down okay!

I can't believe we are actually getting a house! We had just about given up on selling our place. I was actually going to call our Realtor and have her take it off the market, then we had a showing and they made an offer. THe bummer thing is we are bulding our new house and it won't be ready until July or August, so we are moving in with my mom. The baby will probably come a few weeks before the new house is done. On one hand I am sad that I can't start setting up the nursery and everything, but I guess it will be nice to have my mom and my sister as live-in help for the first few weeks. I absolutely LOVE our new house, though, so it is worth the wait!

I think you are right - almost 100% of the time it goes away after birth. I just hope I don't have to give myself insulin shots. I'm not sure I could do that!I think that only happens in the really bad cases, though, so hopefully, even if I do have it, I can control it through diet.

You will love having your mom and sister around to help those first few weeks!!!! BUT, you will get to a point where as much as you like the help, you will be ready to get into your new house and do things on your own. When our first daughter was born, we stayed with my parents for the first three weeks, but as much as I loved them and loved the help, I was ready to go home.

As for not being able to decorate the nursery, ect ........ she's not gonna be in her own room for a few weeks/months anyway. Now you will just have more time to plan what you really want to do in her room!!!!

I meant to add that I have heard that the lemon-lime flavor is not too bad. I just stuck with the orange flavored because that is what I did with my first, and I figured since I didnt have any problems with it, I would just stick with that flavor. The orange one taste like a really sweet orange sunkist. (I think thats how you spell it) Oh, and I do think they give it to you cold .......... straight out of the fridge!!!!

    Hi,

Well over here in the UK we dont get to choose a flavour. You get a lemon one and that is it. All I can say is that it gave me heartburn while I was drinking it and it took me about 20 mins. I was retching and crying as I thought I was going to throw up. They went to get me a bowl but I told them not to as I would throw up if the got me that.

After drinking it I sat outside trying to fight the nausea. I did have gestational diabetes. I wont be having any more children because of an incompetant cervix andI cant cope with the two I have because of this awful phobia.

Good luck with the test and let me know what you thought of it.
