Oh my God...I just spent the last two hours searching for vomiting video on the internet. What a horrible experience. I mean, cured is one thing but honestly vomiting is SO DISGUSTING!!!! My anxiety goes up slightly still, right before I see the thing...maybe to, at most, 3/10. (It used to shoot up to 10 in a fraction of a second, so....I consider myself cured, that 's for sure). But WHAT THE HELL????

Anyway, I now have a list of links, etc. that I can put on the gradual exposure site when people are ready to watch video. The internet has mostly REAL videos, so I wouldn't suggest starting with that. The movies where they stage it are much better to begin with. Most of the time it's fake in the movies, but some movies are real.

Let me know, btw, what movies have VERY MILD scenes...so I can put them in a hierarchical order. Pref. movies on DVD. Thanks.

I NEED WHISKEY AND TRANQUILIZERS NOW!!!!!!! GAAAAAAKKKKKK!!!

Awwwhhh!!! *hugs* What you are doing is very helpful!

Do you want me to send you any links that I have found? Sometimes I search for V* photos online just to help myself gain more exposure. I know it is nasty and very unpleasant. I always stop before it gets too intensebecause aself-induced panic attack isn't pleasant...

I know I'm reaching a new point in my phobia now that I can search for stuff about it online and look at it without totally losing my mind I am very determined to move through this phobia and I'm grateful for the help you are providing online. I really enjoy the videos, especially those with sound, because it helps me worth through the things I am scared about the most with the phobia (except the part about doing it myself).

*hugs* -- Thank you for taking this one for the sake of the team! We love you for it and we are all here to support you.

How about doing something else NOT computer related to get your mind
    off the "icky" stuff?

    Sage,

Bless you for all you do for the people with this phobia.

Two hours! That is beyond the call of duty and I don't know how you did it. Even a non emet would have at least a 3/10 anxiety level.

I'm sure all your hard work will pay off for someone.

Thank you for your dedication to this cause!!!

I wish I lived in Canada so I could have a few sessions with you.

Kick back and have that whiskey or whatever you need to get rid of that anxiety and reward yourself for your selflessness!

    Take care,
    Debbie

    Yes, thanks for doing that.

See, it's a bizarre but necessary thing.

It's bizarre because in what situation would anyone ever spend two hours on purpose looking for vomit videos and watching them (well, maybe the people with the vomit fetish) except for making this site?

    Hey sage,

well your 1000000x's more braver than me, I know my anxiety would be the exact same in that situation as well, even though I am not cured myself.

thank you for everything you do for us,we all do appreciate it!!!

    xx

That just reminded me. (and might help you to feel better) Last weekend I had my fiance look at some images that were supposedly very graphic (vomit ones).

When I asked him how it was, he responded.. "disgusting.. I can't imagine anyone could look at it and not be bothered... I don't like it, but I will try to help you."

Now, this guy has never had a problem with vomiting or other people vomiting, but this is a valid issue. Vomiting is gross. Period. No one likes to see it, and I think it makes most people a little anxious to see it.

Made me feel a little better anyway ; )

Hey thanks guys! YOu guys are great. I feel FINE today. Yesterday was a bit traumatizing I guess...not so much about fear, but about memories that are sad for me and also yes yes yes DISGUSTING. Bletch....no kidding normal people wouldn't search for vomit videos unless they're freaks...lol. I guess I'm desensitized to disgust now as well as fear - ha ha.

Anyway, I know where to go to get videos for people who've finished with the pictures. Cool. It's also a good experience for me to keep looking at that stuff. I never want this phobia to come up and bite me again. EVER.

Thanks again for your support. I'm really happy to help whoever I can. When I retire from my job in about5-7 years (I'll be 55 then) I will do therapy full-time and specialize in anxiety disorders. I feel it's a "giving back" to the hopeless and helpless. After all, I literally RAN AWAY from so many sick people for 30 years, it's the least I can do for society!

    Happy and fun-filled again....SAGE

    Hey Sage,

Thank you so much for doing this for us.. I really do appreciate it, and hope to someday be able to look at them. I have only gotten to the pic of the man gagging, and it sent me straight to an 8.. sigh. But slow and steady, right?

When I have spoken to people who dont have this phobia, and asked them what bothered them about seeing vomit a couple of them said it was the violence of the action that got to them. Maybe that was part of the reaction for you? I dont know, I cant begin to understand yet.

You will! Just keep working at it!

Kim - I would suggest going back to the picture before the guy gagging and see what effect it has on you. Try to get anxious with that one, if you can't - use your imagination. It's little help to look at a picture and sort of "not think about it". Cuz if you do that, the next picture will just "get you". You have to try to look at the pics and REALLY imagine yourself in it, or catastrophize as much as you can - anything to get your anxiety up just a bit. Then you bring it down with breathing and relaxation. OR just sit at the computer about to click on the #8 again and get a reading. If your anxiety rises somewhere below 5, then work on getting it down to 0 or 0-1 before you tackle actually clicking the picture. Good luck!

Thank you so much Sage for all your support and dedication to people who have this phobia, as well as those with other anxiety disorders.

When I began this journey of panic attacks that were VERY debilitating, it was very hard to be diagnosed, let alone find someone who had knowledge about it. Thank goodness there is more awareness now about phobias and anxiety disorders!!

Yes thank you Sage for all of your work to help people. I've actually thought about moving to Canada for a while just so I can have therapy with you! Who better to help an Emetophobe then a FORMER Emet? I can pretty much watch videos and TV and what not where people vomit it's just the real life thing scares the CRAP out of me. Especially if it's one of my sisters, for some reason when they puke it makes me freak out MAJORLY.
