this is a little odd. bear with me.

so i havent been emetophobic very long. probably about 6 months.
ever since i have of course been dealing with panic attacks, and the symptoms that come along with.

i started my period on saturday. last night was torture. and it is becoming a pattern. each month the day before or during my period, i will have one really bad night where i get so upset out of nowhere that i'll shake for hours. last night my face was so hot. it felt like i was being BURNED. i was shaking in bed ...and just hoping hoping someone would wake up. and my MOTHER did. this is another pattern. whenever i am up with shakes and stomach upset, so is she.

how UNUSUAL is it that my mother and I experience panic symptoms at the exact time, and is usually 95% ALWAYS during MY period. (she is 47 and going through pre-menopause? right now)

we both sat in the living room shaking and sipping 7up and burping. she goes to the bathroom and has a bowel movement and feels better. it wasnt that easy for me.
i kept saying "i am so so so so hot"..and she said "i am too"..also last night i felt a new symptom.. it felt like someone was scraping metal all throughout my body. like especially my head and my chest. it felt like metal clanging together!

i believe i had a fever last night. the thermometers are SO sketchy and change so much. but i had 90 degree temp. which is abnormal for me as im usually under normal. each time i left my blanket i would FREEZE and shake horribly.

a few questions:!

1. can your temperature increase during panic attacks OR during your period?

2. why is it that my mom and i are apparently SO connected that we are both shaking and getting hot in our beds at the same time. racing hearts, hot flahses, upset stomach, all of it. isnt that sort of unusual? andit ALWAYS happens at night. middle of the night. we both layed awake from 11-1am.

i suppose i'll just make an appt with a doctor to get it fixed. my mom is convincd its a horomone problem. since its obviously centered around my period. and her lack of one.

wasnt sure if anyone could relate to this????

Wow that sounds not fun, but considering you were on your period and your mum is doing the menopause thing it was probably all linked with hormones. And your body temperature does go up when you have a period, no idea why. It sounds like you're really suffering with this though, maybe you should see a doctor about maybe going on the pill or something? Sorry I wasn't that helpful.

Hey, im really sorry that your feeling like this. My mum has the same
sort of things to. Hers are caused by panic attacks. She went a
wedding the other night and she began to feel really cold and shaky,
though her face was burning up and she was. She had to use the loo
a few times, but it wasnt upset i don't think. She got home and told
me all of this and insted of thinking argh! she's ill!! i looked up
symptoms of a panic attack and we both looked together and it
sounded just like what she was getting. Its stange though how your
mum gets them at the same time as you...

here are some of the syomtpms that i know of :

Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate
Sweating
Trembling or shaking
Sensations of shortness of breath or smothering
Feeling of choking
Chest pain or discomfort
Nausea or abdominal distress
Feeling dizzy, unsteady, lightheaded, or faint
Derealization (feelings of unreality) or depersonalization (being
detached from oneself)
Fear of losing control or going crazy
Fear of dying
Paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations)
Chills or hot flushes.

I hope that your feeling better now and that your ok.

Your hormones can do crappy things to your body. Don't you wish a MAN could experienceone tenth of what we deal with for 40 years. If it isn't your period, it's pregnancy, if not that it's peri-menopause, or of course menopause. Then we get facial hair .

I just wanted to say that the metal scraping feeling could have been from you being so tense. I know that I will shake sometimes from a panic attack, b/c my muscles are so tense, and that makes it worse, which, in turn, becomes a visicous cycle.

I think it's kinda neat how you and your mom are in tune with each other in this way. I don't live with my mom (I'm 28), but sometimes I think she senses my panic and wil phone out of the blue.

Hope you both feel better today!
