I don't know if this will help, but I wander through NYC ona consistent basis, and I always have to use public facilities while I am out. I do try and find the nicer ones, but I have been in restrooms plenty of times where there have been ill people. I have never caught anything from using these restrooms (I wash my hands very well, and use a tissue or paper towel on the door handle of the restroom). Little kids get sick all the time, and most people I know will just say it's a SV because it's a catch-all phrase for a stomach illness. With little kids, their immunities are so weak and all. I find a lot of adults will be ill because of something they ate that wasn't quite right, or a lot of international tourists with "travelers diarrhea," or too many mimosas for brunch, etc. These are my experiences in an everyday situation in an overpopulated city with all variants of personal hygiene. Meditative breathing helps me when I'm anxious and feel nauseous, you might try that (and the hot bath idea)!
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead, nurture love within you and and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm for many wounds.
