***migh be graphic to some- but speaks of technicalities, not actual events***
Well, to make the time while in the middle of buttf*** nowhere (otherwise known as Sudbury, Ontario) my boyfriend and I went to the science centre (Science North....ou en francais, Science Nord, lol). They usually have a space set up near the entrance for temporary exhibits- this time around there is one called "Grossology: The (impolite) Science of the Human Body". The sign was eye-catching to say the least....it it had a cartoon of a baby projectile vomiting- looks kinda like the garbage pail kids.
(Pic and info on the exhibit can be found here for those that are curious: http://sciencenorth.on.ca/science-at...grossology/gro ssology.html)
I must say, the exhibit they had about vomitting was pretty damned cool- and this is from someone who freaks is anyone vomits within smell, sight, or sound of her. They had this giant model where you had to pull levers and turn this crank to make it vomit, lol. It basically had this massive brain that would light up when stimulated (you started the crank), and then while someone pulled the lever back and forth (to start making the "stomach contents"- in this case water- start moving upwards), the other person turned the crank to contract the esophogus to move the contents upwards to the mouth. They also had a bunch of facts as to why vomitting is an important bodily function, and why it happens.
I started to think- this exhibit would probably be really helpful to emet kids, because it showed vomitting as very technical- not at all scary. That, and to simulate it as part of a game would probably get their interest.
HEHEHEHE.....while my boyfriend and I were looking at it, this adorable little girl ran up to us and started to"help" us get the exhibit in motion (by basically telling us what to do- it was obvious that she was a seasoned pro). Then, she proceeded to tell me that the "barf" they use should be green, because whenever she barfs it is green, and when she is sick her mom brings her a bucket. I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the entire situation- here I was as an emet at an exhibit about vomitting having a conversation about the colour of vomit with this cute little girl of about 6 that randomly walked up to us.
All in all I had to say it was an interesting day- even though I was too big to climb the zit wall (shucks).
