Just wondering if anyone can give me some info to help calm me down a little.

I took off work today to let my wife go some dr.s appt's and stuff. So i had my boy all day (11 months). Anyway my wife had to go to work at like 4:30. We all napped until about then and when my son woke up he seemed hot so we took his temp. He hd 100.2. Of course, the first thing to go thru my mind was "what if he has a sv?" And my wife has to go to work and I am here alone to deal with it. AND i've ben home with him all day without her, so if he does have one, i have a good chance of getting it right???? And yesterday I took him to see some of my students play basketball, so naturally, all my students and some colleagues and everyone were all around him touching his and holding him and all. I Antibacterial wiped him a couple of times while there but still, u cant get to everytime.

Well Im home now, its like 5:30 and he is fine. His appetite was fine for dinner and I gave him some Tylenol and he is watching Little Einsteins. I am trying toget him to have water. He is but nota lot. He is happy and playing but not going wild or anything.

Let me know what u think about thepossibility of a sv.

    Thanks

Is there a stomach virus going around where you live right now? If not, he's probably fine.

I am having similar issues with my 2 yr old daughter. She has been running a low grade temp ranging from 99.5 to 100.5. She had a little bit of a stuffy/runny nose for a few days but other than that she has had no other symptoms. If your son does not have any symptoms within 24 hours of the fever than he probably doesnt have a sv*. I worry about that too. She is eating fine, acting fine, etc. I called her doctor today and they said that she can run the fever for about 5 days like this and if its not gone in5 daysthen to make her an appt.

There is a such thing as a fever virus...thats the only symptom too. It can last a week. It sounds like your son has the same thing my daughter has. I wouldnt worry Especially since he is eating fine and acting fine. Usually with a sv the fever will pop up and they are sick showing symptoms or they will get sickand then start with a fever. Fever doesnt always come with a sv.

    Hope that helps!Edited by: madisonsmom

Ontariogirl, I was thinking the same thing. The other thing I was thinking, did you all cuddle for a nap together? Maybe he just got hot?

Or possible allergies. I know that sometimes with allergies, people's temperatures actually go up. He could have no other symptoms, but maybe his body is just adjusting to all of the new things in the air.

Also, I remember my daughter used to have a higher than normal fever right after waking up. Did his temperature return to normal?

It could also just be his immune system fighting something off. Fever in
itself is not a bad thing- and it doesn't mean he is or will be sick. It could
just mean he came in contact with "anything- cold, etc." and his body is
    fighting it off.

hi j12, I think he is either teething, or might becoming down with a cold. Most likely teething. My son has had 3 different days of fevers since april 3. His last fever was on Saturday, and Sunday he woke up with a cold. i think you will be fine honey!

    J ~~

My kids would suddenly, out of the blue, get a low grade fever for maybe 2 days at the longest. Never any othe rsymptoms, just the fever, but they usually acted the same and had appetites, but just tired more easily. I always thought it was their little bodies way of saying "whoa little guy, let's just chill out for a while". Otherwise, you know kids, they'll keep going and going. I think it's just saying they need a bit of a rest. Hope this helps.

Well im not so nervous for me anymore. ive ruled out sv. But now he still has a fever and it was very high earlier tonight (104.6) but dr. says to just monitor him and give him a tepid bath (did it) and fluids and a little tylenol earlier. right now it is kinda stabilizing at around 102.7 or so. He is sleeping and my wife is checking on him. Hope it goes away by tomorrow. Feel so bad for him. Its hard not being able to do much to make him feel better. Thanks for all the replies. It helps!
