I was wondering, with my emet and OCD I do tend to wash my hands alot, which a few of my partners have picked up on and do currently still do it,they just pick up my habbit as well.

With all our routienes and things that we do to help our anxiety or if we are having an axiety attack showing our fear, have we ever thought that we may pass on our fear to people close to us, not everyone shows to much of what they have in this phobia to people around them but for the people who do and the people who rely on them do you think that they may be picking up on how we feel?

Its something id never ever wish on anyone so thats why im slightly worried that could we be passing it on?

I worry about passing on my anxiety to my little girls (one and three) I don't want them to be paranoid like I am. But I do wash thier hands a lot. I think that's just good hygeine, tho.

i don't think i've necessarily passed my anxiety onto my boyfriend or my family, but they definitely have picked up my habits, especially my boyfriend. i am a compulsive neat freak and he is suchhh a slob. i can deal with a messy room, but NOT a dirty one and i used to go to his house and find dirty clothes, dust all over everything, dirty dishes, etc. i freaked out one day and i don't think he realized how gross it really was! so he's changed his ways completely. maybe my crazy habits are for the best in some cases!

My hubby has definetly picked up better hygiene habits since we got together but not to the extent that I think he has developed emet sympstons. He just knows I get stressed about poor hygiene and has become morecareful.

Mind you thats probably becos I go on at him so much about "washing hands before eating at work, washing hands after touching door handles at work, drinking lots of water, washing hands after emptying the bins and so on...........

And he wasnt particularly unhygenic before!!!

my boyfriend is pretty hygenic on his own; however, i try to get his mom to pick up a few habits i think she needs - like after dinner, she leaves whatever they had out on the counter in tupperware so eric can eat dinner when he gets home from work - i've been over ther when i know that chicken has been sitting on the counter for at least 3 or 4 hours - & they all eat it! whenever i see it, i just put it in the fridge - it's not like he won't be able to find it!

also, last week she was cutting fish on the counter &then went to just wipe the counter with a sponge! i said, "you'd better wash your hands, you don't want to get salmonella or something!" after she went out to the grill i bleached down the counter quick, because i couldn't stand just sitting there & knowing all she'd done was spread raw fish germs around on it

yeah my boyfriend is really dirty. he is a fisherman, so eats after catching a fish, WITHOUT washing his hands! its horribel.

he also suffers from hayfever, and blows his nose on anythng and i mean anythink i sight, he even wipen his nose on the dog once! it really is horribel. he also wipes his nose 9on a flannel in the bath and doesnt put it in the wash, no wonder his sister has conjunctiveitis at the moment!
